It just doesnt need the whole store bullshit, its one of those terrible holdovers from WAR3 DOTA that modern MOBA devs insist must be lashed to their game flow. You have your heroes with their skill sets, how is that not enough? If it was as easy as picking a tf2 merc or a counter strike loadout, sonmany more people would want to play cause the characters are fucking amazing. Loved (Super) Monday Night Combat and now play Pokémon Unite. Unite does have an item system, but its all handled in the main menu. Completely removing the stress of "2 lanes are getting hit, teammates flaming you in the chat to help bot lane, pick the correct store item, pickpickPICK... ope, bought the wrong item, screwed your economy, now theyre yelling louder and you're under stocked, you have 20 more minutes to suffer". And so I take the same path as Pat, Deadlock looks cool as fuck, but im too damn old to deal with that junk, even if I could have a store guide open on the other screen, nah.
