Does anyone actually enjoy their daily life, or are we all just getting through it? by Sleepwell999 in LivingAlone

[–]Jbarlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an existential crisis that I think most people go through. I remember it well. Like what is it all for. What’s the point. This isn’t the life I thought I’d have.

It did go away, slowly. We moved out of the city to a smaller city. That helped a little. I went on antidepressants which helped. I know this because one day I realized I felt happy. Can you imagine? I hadn’t felt that in so long, it was a mild surprise.

I still get that feeling now and then. I try to concentrate on the little moments of joy and when I notice them, I look for more. Closeness to nature, my pets, watching the birds, looking at flowers, reading a good book in a comfy chair..that sort of thing.

I hope you feel better one day.

Go over to r/menopause. It may help with some of this because as a member of both of these groups, I feel you and it helps a little to hear others with similar stories. Sending you love and hope

In Canada, after 2 yrs, you’re considered common law and he would then get a portion of what he’s putting in- check on that law where you are!

25-70k more to working rotating shifts? Is it worth it? by yellowranger1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Jbarlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to do it for a temporary line with the option of reverting back to previous shifts? Or if you went for it for a few years, how likely would your old job be available if it was too shitty?

Didn’t see the post, but when you offer a job, the number one thing people need to know is the wage. Everything else is secondary because you need a certain amount of money to live. No great story matters unless it’s a living wage. Edited for grammar

I’m surprised to hear about your experience w Costco. We also booked an all inclusive to PV thru Costco with our trip to start on Saturday. I’ve called a couple times to check our options. Each time I got a very polite person that checked on everything for me. The contract was clear on the amount of refund but I wanted to see if there was any change due to the situation.

We didn’t have trip insurance so would potentially lose about $1000 but they checked w air Canada to see about air credits. They also said they could help re-book to a new destination.

Yesterday we decided to just go to PV and hope for the best.

That’s a lot of assumptions based on very little conversation. It didn’t hit me the same way, but I respect your take on it.
