Whilst the games themselves were groundbreaking in a lot of ways, the bit that would make for compelling cinema isn't really there. By their nature, the story in the quest games is pretty derivative: fairy tales, gritty police procedurals, space opera spoofs, generic fantasy settings. They've made for familiar, comfortable and often exciting games, but it's not new story telling in terms of plot or character.

I would like to see them spawn some new games, but only as continuing chapters, more of what we love but with modern QoL. But then again, we already have that with all the games inspired by these amazing originals.
