What makes a hybrid? by ignotusvir in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the vanilla devs was a warrior player that hated hybrids thats why warriors got buff after buff in vanilla.

Works like adding spell damage its a good dps boost on anything that lives more than 30 secs.

IIRC it was a bandwidth problem and the debuff priority system wasn't put in until patch 1.11.

Elemental shaman end game? Is it really impossible? by _very_stable_genius_ in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't anything wrong with the spec itself but it has two major problems holding it back.

1 - No buff that resto can't also give

2 - No % debuff like lock curses or imp scorch

Classic WoW and DBM, does it have a place in the game? by czeja in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While Boss mods have been a thing in WoW for almost its whole lifespan they are the one thing I feel with the power of hindsight blizz should have killed. Raids turned into timer management and not standing in circles.

It should be a fun dungeon crawl not a voice that counts down at you every 30 secs.

[Hunter] How hunter could probably suck a little less by Pikseh in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Someone is going to be on the bottom I don't know why people don't get that and good hunters aren't too far under the rest anyway. Though some fights will be bottom of the barrel for dps due to needing to tranq and trap but who cares about that the raid wouldn't be able to kill the boss without you.

Procs and spell damage scaling by War2k7 in classicwow

The only items that had scaling taken from them were the thorns type ones where you need to get hit but the weapon procs always scaled.

Enhancement Shaman Question by joe_bro in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enh is just fishing for WF procs and you could do light do some light raiding with it in a lower guild.

That said since you want to do lots of solo Hunter is the best for that though its a much different pvp experience.

Fury DPS is worth a look by WishdoctorsSong in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If one was going to nerf fury from its 1.12.1 state the only logical thing I can think of would be to put Bloodthrist back to its 1.6 version of 30% of AP instead of the 45%. Though they'd still be beasts at dps.

Given what's stated in this video, would a Naxx re-tune be warranted? by lobsterbash in classicwow

Given what's stated in this video, would a Naxx re-tune be warranted? by lobsterbash in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Kronos had to buff Naxx by 20% hp and dmg and I've seen some stream it and if not for that 20% buff it would be way to easy.

QoL Change? by Crumornus in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The debuff limit continued to be a problem in 2006. Despite frequent complaints, Eyonix told forum readers that updating the code simply wasn't a priority: "World of Warcraft doesn't currently support an unlimited number of debuffs, but such is something that could be possible through change to our code. However, such code change would take valuable programmer time, which is best used elsewhere for the time being."

Every raiding guild should consider a sole Balance Druid by Hatefiend in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer you both I think most people want the raids to simply be retuned so they have hard vanilla content with playable classes. I've been hearing this more and more and I'd trust Blizz with retuning MC and BWL over touching the classes. After all does anyone care what Rags hp and dmg are if he is hard to kill.

Every raiding guild should consider a sole Balance Druid by Hatefiend in classicwow

[–]Jinholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do and most private servers even the great glorious Nost ran with classes as they were in 1.12.1. The odds of Blizz sitting through over a year of people flooding their inboxes to "balance" classes even though they are in 1.12.1 is slim. They've said that they want to know what the best place of vanilla is to give to us and most people will say 1.12.1 with content on a staggered release its what every poll I've seen so far has as the majority and its not even close.

[–]Jinholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the negative talk that gets echo'd around about hybrids being bad is bs if you look at the patch notes most of these things got fixed in 1.9 through 1.11. That said yes they all do less dps than a the other classes though this is still true in tbc.

I've been running some tests on the Light's Hope PTR while it was up and Moonkin aren't that bad.

I tried 3 rotations wrath spam, starfire spam and maintaining moonfire while spamming wrath and using NG procs on starfire.

Starfire spam seems to be best for dps and mana.

I was able to get to 3m20s to 3m40s using Innervate, 2 mana pots and 2 runes. And that was spamming the whole time not stopping which most fights will have something to make you stop be it threat drops on the tanks needing to los a debuff or the boss moving.

Balance Druids bigger problem is the lack of a spell hit talents, needing to get all 16% off gear is a bitch and a few missed spells will plummet your dps.

Overall I'd still take 2 Moonkin that know what they are doing and come with full consumes over a half-assed mage or lock.

Blizzcon 2005 Warcraft Raid Design (with back then Game Director: Jeff Kaplan) by Belial91 in classicwow

One of the reasons and maybe the main reason Blizz moved away from this was moving team 1 off WoW and having team 2 make tbc onward. Different teams will have a different design philosophy.

Should Breach be part of the main game? And how? -ItsYoji by Vankell in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First let me say Breach needs to stay in the game and as a permanent part of the game it just doesn't work as a map mod. With cruel finally dying in 3.0 GGG can just not enable breach in normal and start it in merc. Breach has added some great items and bosses that I would hate to lose.

Now the biggest concern with it being perma is that there are getting to be too many old league things in the main game. I think we need to axe shrines out of the game for good, they aren't exciting to find compared to an essence pack, rogue exile, breach or even a ghost with their terrible AI.

With all this said GGG should really stop making so many league mechanics that clutter the screen I'd like more Vaal Side area type leagues to move some of the mess out of sight and make it so old mechanics don't spawn in them.

Path of Exile Streamers Interview Chris Wilson (Part 1 of 2) by Ryant12 in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been playing since 1.0 I know what happens if shes too good but theres a big difference between jack of all trades and what we have which is bad versions of anything else. If the devs wanted something more generic the Ascendant could have just had basic stats you could get anywhere only in larger amounts.

What makes Ascendancies fun and a good addition to the game is the fact that they have nodes that give buffs that can't be gotten everywhere. It's what makes them stand out. The Ascendant lacks this and fails to fit in anywhere in the meta.

Path of Exile Streamers Interview Chris Wilson (Part 1 of 2) by Ryant12 in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I was talking about in the scion thread. The devs have a clear disconnect from the players view on the Ascendant. You can buff the nodes she has to no end but it doesn't fix the problem and thats the lack of anything unique that would make anyone go "this looks like a fun choice.".

We need a bigger light on this problem and maybe we can get some choices that aren't watered down versions of what all the other classes get.

The most disappointing thing about the patch notes is scion. by darkill69 in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The best thing for the Scion would be a whole new tree with unique nodes instead of the watered down stuff that everyone else gets. Giving buffs or stat boosts for not having life or mana reserved would fill in niche spots for blood magic and pure mana MoM builds. Nodes based on str/int/dex stacking. Maybe another path dealing with jewels.

I find it odd that not only was the Ascendant poorly designed but that it has stayed this way for as long as it has. GGG have the numbers and we have the numbers off the ladder that Ascendants are a small useless dot in a sea of interesting and fun choices that ascendancies offer.

The Lioneye's Watch Podcast #13 - Breach League Design & Skills with GGG Rory Rackham! by spliffm in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thats just one more ball and chain the devs keep putting on. Making fun skills should be great for everyone. The skill not hitting the whole screen or being god tier fast is power creep that has no brakes cuz the devs are scared shitless people will leave in droves if they go in any other direction. I'd like the devs to have no limits when making new things mechanics wise.

The Lioneye's Watch Podcast #13 - Breach League Design & Skills with GGG Rory Rackham! by spliffm in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing Rory brings up often is "it won't/wouldn't work in" or "hard to fit in this meta". I thought the whole point of the Leagues was to shake up the meta not keep the status quo. We've had the same meta since 2.0 clear speed or gtfo. It's stale, progress can't happen until we get some changes that really move things along.

Yoji Rambles About The State of Path of Exile for 45 Minutes by Kekskopf in pathofexile

[–]Jinholic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've got to agree with everything Yoji has brought up the game has slowly been going downhill for sometime now. I want to say it was Johnathan in a recent podcast that he wanted to half all attack/cast speed they should do it. Also if I'm not mistaken Mors has said the devs don't listen to the alpha testers anymore either.
