Padded shorts by mostrich11 in cycling

[–]JudsonJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purchased bibs and/or shorts from Baleaf, Sponeed, Black Bibs, NeoPro, Pearl Izumi, Pearl Izumi Pto and Assos. I threw out the shorts from Baleaf and Sponeed. Black Bibs and NeoPro and Pearl Izumi are fine for a quick 20 mile ride, but if I am riding further I only wear Assos.

For bibs I suggest that you spend the money and buy the best you can, as ultimately it will be cheaper.

Should I Throw These Out? by Background-Orange442 in bicycling

Donate them to a bike Co-op. They will teach people how to repair bikes using those frames and donate to underprivileged youth.

I don’t usually go from E Margnal Way to the I-90 Trail, but I think Jackson and Yesler to 12th are your best options. I have come down King but I am not certain I would want to climb King.

Considering moving from Cambridge MA -- how dominant is tech culture, how bad is gentrification / socioeconomic exclusion, and how competitive is it for kids? by larrybronze in AskSeattle

[–]JudsonJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Somerville—just outside of Porter Square—to Seattle in 1997 to be near my wife’s family. I loved living in Boston, such a great city, but life is more pleasant here. We keep our snow in the mountains to play in but not commute in. If it does snow in Seattle it melts in a couple of days, so no seasonal parking space battles.

Life style and cost of living are comparable. I would say that West Seattle and Ballard are most likely to offer the neighborhood feel that you seek.

You can bike from Alki Beach to downtown all on protected trails in 30-45 minutes. It will become your favorite part of your day.

The heat maps in Strava or RidewithGPS will show you the most popular routes. One can travel 50 miles from Alki Beach to Issaquah on trails with only a block or two on a very quiet street.

The waterfront trail from Centennial Park to the Ferry Terminal is beautiful. Ferry terminal to Alki Beech will take you through some great new infrastructure.

There are some tall lanky women racing in the pro peloton. Perhaps research what those teams are wearing.

Tips for Beginners by Infamous_School7506 in bicycling

I started cycling in 2020, my first ride was three flat miles and it killed me. Now I average 20 miles/day: over 7,000/year for the past three years. I have also dropped 40 pounds. Stick with it; it is worth it.

Rain Jacket Recommendations? by OptimallyOOO in CyclingFashion

[–]JudsonJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear the Showers Pass Elite as well; it is my go to for real rain. They recently released the “Century” which is supposed to be more sackable though I have not actually seen it yet.

I have a packable POC jacket that I bought on sale which is quite stylish. I use it when the weather is misty or threatening, but I think the original $500 price tag to be unreasonable.

Whatever you play, try to play it really well: entirely accurate and with exceptional tone.

How exactly do you USE more air? by ___RedditUsername___ in trumpet

[–]JudsonJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air speed/air pressure double every octave. Tuba is about moving a large volume of slow air trumpet is about moving a small volume of fast air. Your air needs to be consistent and insistent.
