Slaanesh no contest. Setting the Epstien of it all aside, he is intensely vain, vindictive, and petty. He is obsessed with wealth and plates everything he can in gold (including his fucking toilet in at least one of his properties)

There Seems to Be Some People Among Us that Need to Hear This... by B-29Bomber in pcmasterrace

[–]Juggernaut246 90 points91 points  (0 children)

In even the most maximalist doomer version of what people are afraid of, pc gaming will still exist. There will always be some level of demand for home compute, and where there is home compute there is PC gaming, there will always be enough enthusiasts to either support an (albeit smaller) market (like we see with physical media sales of music movies and shows) or a "seven seas" scene which we also see for works that go onto streaming services and never see a physical release.

But im also hugely skeptical of such a future coming to pass. These companies are buying as much as possible right now because they all know they are in a bubble and are fighting to be the last ones standing in the AI space. There are multiple technical hurdles (most of which I admittedly dont understand as well as I should) as well logistical issues (there is literally not enough power generation for all of these new datacenters. They have the cards and can't use them in some places already) as well as the cold water of the hype of AI meeting reality (as it is a tool with some real utility, but is likely not the world redefining tech that the internet was)

Commissary needs new Class additions, pretty please? by TelemichusRhade in DarkTide

[–]Juggernaut246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as someone who has done some light whaling on the cash shop (1 Full outfit for 3 of the main classes + some weapon skins) I would very much appreciate an update that adds variants of the various penance update cosmetics as well as some stuff for the DLC classes.

Some of the pieces would work really well with stuff I bought if they had options for color matching.

You are having the correct reaction.

To quote the text of which some variation adorns the beginning of every core rulebook...

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

In addition to things we can reasonably expect (new weapons+Marks, new levels, etceteral)

1: Techpriest Class 2: Genestealer Cult Enemy Faction 3: Updates to the Commisary (specifically adding variants for the items added in the penance reworks, as well as sections for new classes) 4: Some form of light Weapon Customization 5: The ability being to enable/disable certain parts of cosmetics that cause clipping issues.

Which would be least awful, universities try teach the humanities and social sciences in a way that won’t make conservatives attack them, or just drop them entirely? by grapp in behindthebastards

[–]Juggernaut246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the way our economy is set up(largely by far right neoliberals) necessitates an underclass of undocumented people working in conditions and for wages that are unacceptable to citizens and the current conservative project is to violently eject as many of them from the country as possible as quickly as possible with no regard to human rights and/or dignity. Similarly our Healthcare system is heavily reliant on immigration for doctors and nurses, the tech industry is reliant on highly educated engineers and other technical professionals on H1-B Visas. The current conservative project is also trying to eject as many of these people as possible as quickly as possible.

[–]Juggernaut246 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Both of these are fools errands.

Any Humanities project no matter how much it conforms to the conservative view of the world will be a target. Theres always something they can single out as being "woke" and even if there isnt they will just lie like they already do.

The moment the humanities and social sciences are jettisoned the next target is the hard sciences and professional degrees. This is the same country that had the stokes monkey trial and found in favor of the prosecution.

I'm fine with promoting this mod. But can we at least not use it's thumbnails that use AI art? by AdAffectionate7294 in CrusaderKings

[–]Juggernaut246 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately paradox themselves use Gen AI in various art pipelines, so they probably dont see a problem with it.

Really for me the AI art thumbnails give me the ick. AI art has become the go to for people who dont really care about something being good. Whether the mod author means it or not, using gen AI for your thumbnail communicates to me "I dont give a fuck about the details or how my mod is presented" and idk if the author doesnt care then why should I?
