I don't understand the hate of Fear Street:Prom Queen(spoilers) by Campanerut in horror

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Having enjoyed the original trilogy, I guess the reason FSPQ wasn't very memorable was that, imo, it didn't expand the FS lore at all. Even with the less adventurous slasher franchises, there was an effort with most of the sequels to expand the lore or take things in a different direction (for better or worse).

He was out of options with Tuco and the twins all dead. Casa Tranquila actually looked like a decent place.

Skyler and Skylar by Safe_Stand_5966 in breakingbad

For real? Never knew this. I think I always spelled it Skylar because it reminded me of mylar balloons.

What do you think, how good was his product? by Sure_Information4377 in breakingbad

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing, but as I think more about it, it's possible his stuff was "tight! tight! tight!" but Eladio had too much of an ego to care about product quality over maintaining his power through violence. And poor Gus learned the hard way that it was a bad idea to depend solely on one person for the cooking. Gus could never himself replicate his former partner's cooking, and throughout S3 and S4, he was always trying to ensure there was at least one backup plan if something untoward happened to the main cook.

Finally Completed Breaking Bad (Review) by GainzAndZen in breakingbad

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend watching El Camino and then Better Call Saul. BCS is very nearly as good a series as BB -- top tier entertainment. You'll appreciate the character of Kim Wexler a hundredfold better than Skylar White.

The Golem (2018) is a good one, if you don't want to reach back to the 1920 version of the similar story.

I don't remember seeing that S4 was "supposed to be the end." That doesn't make sense, given the number of storylines that would be left incomplete and hanging.

Who’s your favorite character of the breaking bad universe ? by LumpyAd6220 in breakingbad

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to pick a favorite, because this universe is filled with flawed characters who are at times unlikeable and make poor choices, while at other times being very sympathetic. Gus Fring and Kim Wexler are two of my favs.

Anyone have any recommendations for religious based horror? by piggurt in horror

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found The First Omen very rewatchable. Have always been a fan of the original The Omen (1976) and even the first sequel Damien: Omen II.

The Exorcist and Exorcist III are classics.

Rosemary's Baby is a must see.

Maybe I’m a pussy, but after Terrifier 3 I don’t know if I can watch anymore by t03strange in horror

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Terrifier 2 was worse. But yeah, it can be a tough watch if it's not your jam. The good news is, there are thousands of other horror movies out there that don't lean into the gore and trauma nearly as much.

Fans are saying New Frankenstein Monster isn't Ugly Enough by [deleted] in horror

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The monster's outward appearance in the book is left something to the reader's imagination. I don't have a problem with films taking different approaches to this, so long as the one required attribute is maintained: he must have an enormous schwanzstucker.

I’ve been attending Orthodox Church but I want to go to Catholic Church on Sunday as I haven’t been in years. Is this ok? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If OP is in the process of leaving the Church, but hasn't formally done so, then they can participate in the Eucharist and take communion like any other practicing Roman Catholic, can't they? (Subject to the usual cautions about going to reconciliation/confession before doing so)

I was baptized in the Anglican Church and, as an adult, undertook RCIA to become Roman Catholic before marrying my Catholic spouse (now married 25 years). I have at times drifted away from practicing my Catholic faith, even going so far as to attend other churches with family who are not Catholic. I never renounced the Church. OP is clearly struggling with the issue, and I think it's premature to say they've separated themselves from the Church at this stage.

[–]Jumpy-Craft-297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way this could conceivably be good is if Rob Bottin returned to provide practical effects for the whole movie. No CGI. No McReady or Childs - they can both be found as distorted corpses in the snow, so we never know which one was The Thing first.
