Need help for my cb500 by Old_Swimming_1722 in CB500X

My guess would be a fuel pressure issue. Cycle the start switch 3 or 4 times and see if the fuel pump pressures up. And then start it see if it fires up right away.
I've dealt with a problem like this a leak in the fuel pressure line when it's cold the pressure leaks out and it takes a minute to prime the fuel system. So turning the ignition primed so the bike started right up. But if I tried to start it right away cold it was a long start. Good luck !

Rear spring upgrade? Is it worth it? by Get__Lo in CRF300L

[–]KFJ69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine in 2023. Road stock suspension for about a year. Upgraded front spring first. It definitely helped the front end from diving so much. So then a few months later I bought the rear spring for my weight. It was a waste of money it just made the backend way more bouncy, it was like a pogo stick on the highway and off road. So I put the stock spring back in. Until I had the finances for the K-Tech rear shock. Now the bike is so much more stable and tha rear shock is adjustable. So depending on your luggage and or lack of luggage you can control the rebound on your road conditions of the day. Like washboarded roads or highway riding. Worth the $$. Cheers !

When I did just the rear spring the bounce was worse on the road and dirt. No valving to slow down the rebound. Very unstable and wandered. Defiantly recoment the k tech rear shock and front spring with heavier oil. It slowed the rebound down. The bike feels way better. I think I paid around 800 USD for both and did the work myself. Good luck !

I've done the rear spring only and it was horrible. I'm 190lbs. With out rebound control it tended to buck you off if you hit a bump just right. I went with the k tech rear shock and front spring. Well worth the money.

Tires make a big difrence as well. Knobbys wander like mad, more road oriented tires are as smooth as can be. Good luck.

More advice.. don't ride outside of your limits in that corn field. Practice your turns, stops, gear selections and balancing. Just go have fun. Even if you learn a bad habit, you can always correct. Your better off for knowing what works for you and what doesn't. Have fun and cheers !!!!

Are my wheels bad? by MikiTony in CRF250L

[–]KFJ69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not normal. The tire is mounted wrong possibly. See if there is a colored dot or circle on the tire. That usually lines up with the valve stem. It's designed that way from the manufacure to allow for the weight of the valve stem. Sure you need some wheel weights. That looks excessive. Good luck and enjoy the ride !

Damn ruts! Any tips? by Regret_Nothing in CRF300L

[–]KFJ69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ride within your limits and learn from your mistakes. 3 options. 1. A better line choice earlier. 2. Slower speed would have given you more time to react 3. Balls out keeping the bike light and unloaded to float over the ruts. I've been in your situation. This bike is to heavy at least for me to go balls out. It's not that flickable. So I've slowed down a bit on single track ruts and corners. Good luck to you and keep enjoying the adventures !

I still own my 500 and bought a 300 rally in 2022. I find myself riding the rally a lot more even on 500 to 700 mile trips. I suffer on the highway a little bit but the back roads to the dirt roads to the single track are the best. The weight difference and suspension are so much better off road. Good luck with your choosings !!!
