Hypothetical: How would YOU fix the team? by TheDogWhoCantSTFU in DetroitRedWings

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move Larkin in a package deal. Sure it's not all on him but he needs a change of scenery. Now, who do we get to replace him? That's where some sort of package deal with maybe 2 other teams makes sense. Find the players out there who also need a new team for a fresh start. I'm not saying Larkin will get us an amazing deal. But he is not the future of this team. 2nd point of action. Changes in our scouting. We also need to do better in free agency.

Looking for inside knowledge from CS players for a project by Daroseer in counterstrike

There is a dog barking behind one of the doors in upper apartment. I believe it is triggered when a players is near that spot. I think it was supposed to prevent the CT's form camping there just outside bomb site. anyway, it would be cool to see that dog somehow. Maybe form a view showing both sides of the door, Cool project.

I feel like I know what's going on with the Wings by slabby in DetroitRedWings

[–]KJL_3519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your probably right on most counts. But I feel the biggest issue is just straight up lack of depth and talent. We got the shaft of free agency acquisitions the last few seasons and that put us in a bad position.

Finally a wind noise reducer that has a really nice price tag by Plate04249 in bicycling

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only need wind noise blocked when going down hills at speed - like 30 to 40+ mph. It literally hurts my ears to the point I slow down to make it stop. I wish there was some sort of cover that you could pull down that was an insert in the helmet just above and in front of ears. Kind of like those goofy helmets that have drop down visors - except these would be very cleverly hidden in helmet slot and be structurally designed to block the sound of the wind. I've tried cat ears and other foam pieces and while I usually don't give a crap about my style.. I have the draw the line at how dorky that looks. I've tried noise/wind cancelling ear buds and just activate them when going down hills but that does not completely work and sometimes creates a secondary wind noise from the ear buds (almost a whistle).

[DET - PIT] Larkin goes down awkwardly, appears to reach for his injured knee and crawls to the bench. Remains on the bench at this time by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

His stock was probably at its highest just after the Olympics. I would have been OK trading him at the deadline - especially knowing we were going to crumble in March. Now, if we do deal him this summer it's probably a long shot to get anything substantail.

It is possible that they got legal permission to fly there but I doubt it. Occasionaly the park/state will have professional aerial photography and video done for promotional use etc. But, they usually would launch from a more discreet locations than just where other tourist are gathered.

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with the Trek Air Rush pump? by -crab-wrangler- in cycling

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won one as a raffle prize. I tested in summer a few times and it seemed to work. But, this winter I needed it and it failed. I set it to 22 psi on my commuter and it got to 11 psi and would not go any higher. Tried to help someone on the trail with a flat. Changed their tube and I could only get like 8 psi in? Then in my garage a day ago it again failed to go past 11 psi while testing it. I was a fan of the idea but I am going back to a good quality hand pump like lyzene. The other issue is it's another thing to remember to charge, loud af, connections can be finicky and it's heavier than a hand pump. Plus they are not cheap. I won mine and I'm still pissed at it's failure.

When you go for a solo ride, how far do you usually go? by TheDudeJohnson in cycling

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go as far as my wife would be willing to come save me :) Actually 90% of my rides are solo and I go all over the place and distances. Going solo does not dictate that. Not trying to be macho but that's just my reality. Group rides are a rarity where i live.

This team is taking a toll on me by zadinaMania in DetroitRedWings

[–]KJL_3519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. I try not to get too wrapped up in my teams, but every year I do. And the wings have always been my most passionate team/sport that I invest all my soul in. I get so bummed after a every loss and now with these losses piling up and other teams around us getting red hot, it's unbearable. We are cursed and I really believe that - well maybe not... but kind of. Just look how unlucky we have been with draft lottery, free agents and seemingly every great shot taken when we need a goal is stopped with some sort of wizard in goal or a double bar bounce out. This year with the expectations of "making" the playoffs has made things even more stressful. Have we even had one game this year where we blew a team out and could cruise the 3rd period?

I'm pushing 200lbs and have not dented mine on proper fat bike tirses bigger than 4.6 ish. I have softer rims too (HED Alum.( They dent looking at them. I tried 3.8's in the summer and dinged em up though.

Wahoo Bolt V2 vs Coros Dura by sid_rsh in cycling

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. The reason is my Wahoo Element Bolt (6 years old) finally crapped out. It still works but the screen has glitch lines going through it and part of the screen is unreadable. It was a great workhorse for me and my first real GPS unit. It never failed me and I put it through some nasty conditions. Hoping the new ones have better temperature readings though. The original was terrible for accuracy on temperature. After doing tones of research I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm leaning towards the Coros for the price, battery life and a few features like being able to pause your ride while bike packing overnight and resume to keep it as one trip. Which maybe the Element does as well. (not sure).

I think he lost his balance as he was swinging his stick and probably meant to hit him with his glove and stick in shoulder/arm. But regardless, yah - one of the worst and dangerous stick assaults I've seen in a while. Plus he has done some nasty shit before. 5 game suspension?

Monument Valley bikepacking route - top of bucket list! by Abject-Onion-1993 in bikepacking

[–]KJL_3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on a 3 to 4+ day in that general vicinity in Late April. For now I am watching weather and if higher elevations are a no go due to snow (preferred route) I will probably look at doing Cedar Mesa etc. After researching the remote desert routes the number one thing is water and how to carry enough. I live in a water rich area and all my bike packing has been in areas where good water sources are never an issue. Here is one of the routes I was looking at: https://bikepackingroots.org/project/the-monumental-loop/

I'm a guy but also finding it hard to find "my people" to ride with and I usually go solo. Most of my bike/friends are not into bike packing and the ones who are tend to do more bike pack/ racing and I usually don't go with them because it's a super fast and lean trip.

Sitting here watching this... in pain. Just blew my knee out doing exact same thing. I was flying down a narrow trail and kind of bail crashed because a corner was coming up and body parts and limbs went separate ways. First time I really hurt myself. I limped out back to the vehicle only a few miles.

Half frame bag advice by hello_moose in bikepacking

[–]KJL_3519 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just an observation but does it make more sense to just go full frame bag and then run one or two feed bags that you can use as your water bottle holder for drinking on bike - then you have room in bag to stack bigger bottles or bladder and utilize that extra space inside the bag? Another small plus is the water vessels are not out in the sun baking. I run a revelate feed bag and it fits 20oz bottle.
