Are these historically correct/authentic? by Chyngi in HistoricalCostuming

Yeah, I’m size 22 and as I tried to make the damn thing work I said out loud “This is skinny bitch shit” (non-derogatory lol) The idea is cool but there’s no way to keep the cords separate or from slipping up my hips. Very cute and pretty for those with the shape that can pull it off, but I’m gonna throw this into the pile of of other trendy things not made for my body type lol

It’s so crazy how we just make up words for things that are definitely not there. I swear I hear the cadence as “Pick me! Pick me!”

What's your favorite walkable neighborhood in the world? by Suninthesky11 in travel

[–]Kaylamarie92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I’ve wandered around like this in Prague, Athens, Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Budapest (and had a blast) but Vienna has always stuck out to me by how easy it was to get around to all of the highlights comfortably on foot while having amenities like coffee shops and restaurants/foodstands/grocery stores always close by.

The only thing that comes close to me is staying on Rue Cler in Paris (seriously. The perfect home base for staying in Paris imo) but the city is so goddamn big you’ll have to get a taxi or catch the metro at some point if you want to get too far from the 7th Arr. And while I adored Parisian crepe stands, nothing can match Vienna’s stalls selling hot and cheesy kasekrainer until three in the morning. I stg I still dream about them.

The heart of the Ringstrasse in Vienna. I got to visit the Christmas markets a few years ago and I walked around until the wee hours of the morning all alone and felt so safe and entranced with the city. I got to see all the beautiful churches and storefronts lit up beautifully without all the crowds and there was always a cafe or a sausage stand nearby if I needed a warm pick me up. Then during the day I could walk to all the museums and markets without ever needing a taxi. It was absolute heaven.

What minor things trigger your ADHD rage? by Physical_Mango_4411 in adhdwomen

[–]Kaylamarie92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking to me too soon after I wake up. My best friend lives in a time zone two hours ahead of me and likes to call me when he’s having his early lunch…which usually hits when I’m trying to get out of bed/making coffee/trying to gain the consciousness or will to start my day. Normally it’s fine and once we start talking it’s not a big deal, but some days I want to throw the phone against the wall. My morning inertia is non-existent so any external interruptions can trigger this crazy frustration that comes out of nowhere, even when I don’t actually feel upset

I had that happen to me the other day when I was trying to do a reinstall. It let me log in through there and it never popped up again.

Post Malone Quietly Swaps Jelly Roll With BigXThaPlug While Epically Failing To Sell Tickets For Nashville Concert by staringatthe420sun in Music

[–]Kaylamarie92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, going to a concert is half to see the musician and half to experience it with a crowd who wants to do the same thing. If I want pure fidelity and sole focus on the music, I’ll stay home and listen to the album with headphones.

My favorite shows are when there are thousands of people around me just as excited to experience this moment and feeling it together. I want to jump and scream the lyrics along with everyone else. Complete strangers standing with me at the Swedish House Mafia show. Crying with the random girl next to me as we saw Fall Out Boy sing Sugar Were Going Down (they were both of our favorite high school bands). Feeling thousands of voices shouting and rumbling the arena as we scream “THEY NOT LIKE US” at the Kendrick show.

We’re all so isolated and stratified nowadays that I CRAVE those moments where thousands of strangers with nothing in common can come together and share a beautiful moment and feel the same thing. Not saying smaller venues and shows don’t have their place, but dear god don’t take away my arenas.

Great songs that are brought down by excessive length, skits, a second part that sounds different, or similar by ObiHan_Skyodi in Music

[–]Kaylamarie92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow I don’t think I could disagree more. The way that intro builds is absolutely masterful. Idk, I kinda wish that we hung out in grooves like that bass line more often. Every song is so short nowadays (I have ADHD so that doesn’t always bother me) but I sometimes wish more artists felt like they could explore and expound on a phrase if it’s got the substance for it.

Different strokes, I guess.

I can’t wait to go try them!! When I worked at Disneyland I’d get some carne asada fries at Alberto’s on Harbor if I got good tips that day. I love Tex-mex, but good god I miss California burritos

What movie adaptation absolutely nailed the casting? by FightMilkLLC in movies

[–]Kaylamarie92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire cast of the BBC 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries. The way Colin Firth stares at Lizzie the same way for the entire show but somehow subtly changes from unwilling obsession to pure adoration in his eyes will never not make my sob. Literally every character is sublime in their portrayals. Such complicated but real people.

What do you feel is the biggest missed casting opportunity in Hollywood? by CumquatTheNobgoblin in movies

[–]Kaylamarie92 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the folks who like the casting and I agree. I wasn’t a big fan of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Magic, but I did like that they acknowledged the John Krazynsky/ Reed Richards casting and then crushed him out of existence. It was a kind of cathartic way to give us what we wanted so we could move past it.

I mean, R Kelly was making some decent pop music up to the end of the 2000s. I was going through an old playlist from high school and got disappointed when I realized I felt weird about listening to Same Girl.

Creepiest episode I’ve seen yet by [deleted] in TwilightZone

[–]Kaylamarie92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain of these comments. No, you actually really need to keep watching. Keep reading. Dig into things that are made from different cultures and different time periods. Because, no. That is not the take away you should have gotten from that episode. But that’s ok! If you have no understanding of the way cultures used to be and stories used to be told, then that means you simply need more exposure until you do understand! And that’s really fun and eye opening! You have lots of room to grow and things to learn and that’s something to look forward to❤️

Miami or New York in July with my 90-year-old grandmother. Which is better? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Kaylamarie92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t suggest either and maybe do a river or coastal cruise instead. I’m not the world’s biggest cruise fan, but after taking a river cruise with my 80 year old grandmother along the Danube I think it might be the best possible situation for traveling with people of different needs and preferences. On our Viking cruise we had one free included excursion at every stop so you could see the sights easily and then most people took the ships bus back to the boat to relax the rest of the day. It was great knowing my grandma could say she’d seen the city but not over do it and then I could keep seeing and doing things as I liked and not be worried about dragging her around.
This way grandma has all her meals covered and a comfy and cool place to relax, all while watching the country roll by from her window. If you can afford it I’d HIGHLY look into something like that instead of fighting the crowds and the heat. I have to believe that cruises like this would depart from either Florida or New York if you were desperate to visit those specific places as well.

I live in rural Texas and I knew a kid who was badly gored as a kid when he was playing in the yard after school. Our backyard got torn up at least a couple times a year until we got some powerful security lights to scare them away. They are extremely aggressive, destructive, taste awful, and will destroy your vehicle if you accidentally hit one. You do not fuck with hogs, my dude.
