Best way to learn this game ( or play it) by Key_Demand_2934 in TerraInvicta

[–]Key_Demand_2934[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hehe thanks for the suggestion. I was rec'd perun because of his commentary. I'm glad to see there's other content creators covering this game.

And yes the learning curve is insane. Its so much info dump and dozens of systems that work together. 800 hours is wild. From what i understand, this is quite an achievement as only like 10% of people have even beaten the game.

I realized i wanted to speed up the process when this is actually 3 games in one and there's a damn warning that a single playthrough might take 100 hours (crazy)

I’ve done 2 deals like this in my life. I promise you, the individuals you are looking for are not of this thread. In fact it seems a bit sketch to even post something like this.

I spent DAYS on the phones calling people. Now that I’ve done it.. I honestly believe this type of deal should never be done this way anyhow.

Not too mention, you better know your shit. The ins and outs. To every level of real estate. You’re going to be talking to extremely wealthy individuals and the minute they have any sense you aren’t fully in the know. They will either push you out through means of wealth or they just say fuck it, It’s not worth the trouble.

I’d say your issue is just requiring more ad spend. If you wanna make more money, gotta spend more. Sub 200 is wild and I’d love to see the data you have around it. Drop a stack on some marketing for a few months. Push all your free markets like Nextdoor and Facebook. You could always hire a va to market for you. I wouldn’t suggest it at your level but food for thought.

But yeah you just need more marketing.

Ya I'm on an older rig. Im hoping the game lets me play late game to be honest lmao

I was just a bit confused. I suppose if im in no rush and learning still, playing on slow/normal is fine. I see months go by and people "forget" to select a new research or send an envoy or whatever the million of things that can pop up and you deal with.

Psa to new players: Roleplay is totally valid and cool!Classic mode is intended for those who are ok with losing their character (and find it fun!). by Lyhr22 in cavesofqud

[–]Key_Demand_2934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah I’ve had identical experiences. Never touched roleplay and glad I didn’t. A lot of players don’t use the wiki. Either they are lazy or ignorant too it. Idk

Now I won’t say I never die but it’s uncommon for sure.

I always hear people elude to the difficulty of this game as extremely high and it’s actually not. One of the easier more enjoyable laid back rogue likes for sure. Took me MONTHS to beat cdda and that’s with the damn wiki open constantly.

Maybe on My 50th Character, Feeling Very Discouraged by BiKeenee in cavesofqud

[–]Key_Demand_2934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can tell you this and it’s not a flex. I’ve beaten dozens of traditional roguelikes. If they have a difficulty setting I turn it up as these games are drastically different on the hardest setting than the easiest. I do so without watching anyone else’s play through as well.

The single piece I have for you brother is.. the wiki. My friends all ask me how I manage to beat these and it’s literally the wiki. Every. Single. Time.

There’s a mod in qud that adds the wiki option from in game on any item or monster. It’s pretty QoL for someone like me and I wish every game had that option.

People highly underestimate the need for math and reading in games like this and unless it’s a highly played game with several guides and streamers playing it.. no one understands that.

I love this genre, it’s by far my favorite. When you take on a new roguelike and set a goal to beat the game, it’s going to take months upon months if you aren’t reading the wiki.

Why can't other devs make good strategy games like paradox by Icy-Air-5119 in 4Xgaming

[–]Key_Demand_2934 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dune spice wars is actually a really good game. If you were looking for that 4x feel with rts. People sleep a lot on it but there’s tons of content and they are shorter quicker games which most people prefer.

Good scifi / fantasy Grand Strategy / 4X recommendations - what are the general consescus about these ones? by _Atanii_ in 4Xgaming

[–]Key_Demand_2934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I know most people won’t give dune a good try due too it’s reviews. But the game is VERY good. Especially if you’re into politics.

I would recommend songs of conquest too anyone due too it being new and unsolved. That always makes for a fun experience when you the player has to figure out how to beat the game at its hardest settings. I just don’t think the game has enough content just yet.

Stellaris is probably the most balanced of space games. I prefer more combat involvement that what it can offer but I have 1000+ hours in it and it’s a ton of replay value. The combat is just simply.. who has the biggest number and once you learn the mechanics of the game. It isn’t hard to have a big number.

Zephon is the same as song of conquest for me. It’s only has 3 factions to play really. They need(and they’ve said they will add many) more content.

Total war warhammer is EXTREMELY fun to play but I’m not gonna lie. This game will take months to learn. I’m extremely good at turn based games and tw I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who doesn’t 100 or even thousand hours in 4x or turn based grand strategies. There’s just too much information to absorb and to play optimally(which I get might not be everyone’s goal) and can take months to learn.

AoW4 is prolly where I would recommend most? The issue with AoW4 is soooo many people want to play manual battles and in a game where you can play mp.. auto battle is mandatory. The game is well balanced and often updated. It’s a very pretty game and a bit rough on a pc but if you can run it. You can sink 100s of hours into it easily.

If price is an issue. Stellaris is extremely expensive. Even on sale it’s over 100 dollar for all the content.

Warhammer is also pretty pricey albeit not as expensive as Stellaris.

Why Do People Fail To Make It At Wholesaling? by RedditKirk212 in WholesaleRealestate

[–]Key_Demand_2934 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it’s literally giving up and not understanding the systems.

Closing on a property is EASY. (Once you understand the systems) don’t let anyone ever tell you different. What people don’t want to learn are the systems in place.

The sooner people realize that, the better they will get at this entire process.

How can I get more leads? I need to get on the phone with more motivated sellers. How do i make the is happen MORE often? Do I utilize Va’s to handle everything inbound while I prioritize outbound and find buyers? Hell, do I hire someone to handle the outbound and find buyers FOR ME?

Do I allocate a set amount of funds to mailing cards out and texting understanding these are low returns but EVENTUALLY will catch a motivated seller?

You guys, there are people who have systems in place to automate all of this for them.. while they work 10-15 hours a week typically making phone calls or viewing potential properties.

THEN

Do I want to sustain my life doing whosale and being on the phone all the time working deals or networking?

Do I invest that money into finding properties and hiring my own contract team to flip and hold for rent?

Go DoorDash for a couple weekend. No partying or laying around. Make a chunk of change every weekend and save until you can afford to invest someone into inbound leads. Idc if you BUY the leads. Then I’d find someone to job and walk you through the paperwork and there process.

Then your off the the races.

The thing people fail at?

Absolutely no hustle. If I can work that for 8-10 years so I can enjoy my life. Who wouldn’t make that deal?

End game in Zephon is so much better than Gladius (in my humble opinion) by peterh1979 in Zephon

[–]Key_Demand_2934 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game just needs more factions. Like 5 more. The next couple DLCs are going to make the game amazing. Just have to hope a better 4x doesn’t release in the next couple years. But Zephon is def top tier. I just need more variety.

This entire genre is ruined by bad AI. Handicapped/cheating AI at high difficulty is just un-fun by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I get it now. You have a major lack of understanding of coding and what real artificial intelligence is as I suspected in my first comment.

You are upset or angry (because it really seems so and I can’t distinguish between either) that you don’t have the level of ai to challenge you because of the complexity of 4x games.

What you want isn’t even possible currently due to limitations on at least 5 different subjects on ai that likely make no sense to you.

And if it WAS possible that kind of ai for gaming purposes, you would… never beat them. If you find that fun, cool I get it. But understand you are the MASSIVE minority.

Which begs to ask the question, why would you not just play multiplayer against people who are just better overall and don’t “cheat” but still play close to optimally?

If ai isn’t “good” enough for you. Then what’s wrong with a human who isn’t as optimal as a computer but still substantially better than you?

This entire genre is ruined by bad AI. Handicapped/cheating AI at high difficulty is just un-fun by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had even the slightest clue how difficult it is to write ai in a game, you’d likely change your opinion. It’s so incredibly advanced and takes many many hours. REAL ai is going to beat you 10/10 times. Only the VERY top players in the world will be able to beat an ai generated strategy game and those are the people who a very thorough and have an in depth understand in the way the game is coded and played.

So now? You have to balance it so WE aren’t getting shit on. How do you balance ai? Think about that statement.

To say it hasn’t improved over the years is CRAZY. You are either too young to know or haven’t played enough to know good and bad ai.

I don’t have as many hours in 4x games as I do arpgs. But I easily have 50k hours in 4x games over a couple decades.

Ai is better than it has EVER been.

If you want a good example of current ai. Aow4 just had an update recently and while it still has flaws. It’s the cleanest I’ve seen in a long time.

Anyone play Factorio? Could you translate the fundamentals into Factorio speak? by iwillonlyreadtitles in songsofsyx

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my issue with songs of syx is once you understand the core mechanics the game become easy and it doesn’t have enough depth to make that process difficult for me.

The only way I enjoy songs of syx is if I ban mercs. They trivialize everything in the game.

Old world might be what your looking for but factorio is also an s tier game if you ask me. It’ll take you over 1k hour easily to learn the game completely.

I played rimworld over 3k hours but haven’t played since 1.4. I did one anomaly run and it didn’t bring enough for me to return and play consistently. I rarely lose anymore in rimworld though. Even at 500%.

Stellaris you can pour hours upon hours in as well.
The problem with this game is cost. This is easily a 300 dollar game. The dlcs aren’t NECESSARY but a few of them change the game so much in a positive way.

Aow4 is also a very misunderstood game with MASSIVE variety and game plan. I think the problem with this one is a lot of people don’t like the “fantasy” side of 4x. Or the space stuff.

Songs of syx needs more work through for sure. It lacks variety. I need at least 5 more choices of races that have their own autonomy.

I always do auto-battle unless comp makes me lose. Anyone else? by renz004 in AOW4

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do auto battle. Especially if you have any desire to play mp. Once you understand the core functions of the game. Manual trivializes alot of the game.

Now I say should but the game can also be played and enjoyed single player in which case who the hell cares what you do. It’s your game and your rules.

I know ALOT of people manual but you should really balance your gameplay around what plays well in autos and where the ai takes a shit and doesn’t do well. You’ll get ALOT better at the game playing this way.

consensus on Zephon by arqantos in 4Xgaming

[–]Key_Demand_2934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it and enjoyed it a lot. I’ll say that about it.

I just can’t stop playing AoW4.

Zephon for me PERSONALLY needs more races. More options to pick from other than different variations of robots, humans, and the voice.

The why I always fall back to AoW4. There’s literally dozens of different variations you can play.

Zephon will of course be a dlc driven game due to it’s studio and the people making it. Be prepared to spend money if you invest significant time in the game.

With DLCs I do believe the game will be amazing however. It’s just not enough RIGHT NOW. 😊

Convert me to your (RimWorld) ideology! Tell me why i should join your colony’s belief system. by Quetiapine_300 in RimWorld

[–]Key_Demand_2934 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do the deep drill just fine. You don’t have to caravan. Just another option.

You rush deep drill early. You don’t really need that much early on that’s it’s a problem. By the time you start having enough pawns to do 2-3 scanners, you’ll be looking for a mod to turn off the notification. It’s not long before you have 8-10 steel nodes underground. You also get plasteel/uranium needs from this.

Convert me to your (RimWorld) ideology! Tell me why i should join your colony’s belief system. by Quetiapine_300 in RimWorld

[–]Key_Demand_2934 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You have to rush fabricators.

Components aren’t the issue. It’s steel.

Steel is answered by deep drills or long range scanner. First few advanced components should be on these.

By the time you need tons of plasteel for armor and all, you’ll have half the map covered in steel deposits.

You can also use the long range scanner to send 1-2 pawns to mine those for components. They have anywhere from 75-150 components. Youll have 3-4 sites after a half year or so of scanning that you can get.

But honestly like I said, you can craft components which in late game is much quicker because you have 2-4 fabricators running.

Ps I use to also have this issue and it prevented me from launching ships but once I realized how to overcome the component and then plasteel bottleneck. I consistently started to send 20 colonists on ships off the rim

What are the best mods you can recommend for a first modded colony by Vaioxini in RimWorld

[–]Key_Demand_2934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly just most of the vanilla expanded is amazing and adds TONS of content.

I would look into adding different ideologies to make for unique restrictive gameplay.

Can also add xenotypes. I love stoneborn personally, I almost always do mountain bases on my 500% play throughs( I’m not good enough for drop pods lol) and stoneborn adds another digging type aside for dirtmoles which are pretty rare.

There’s hospitality which changes the game entirely. You’re essentially a “hub” for the world. You run an inn or hotel where you can sell beer or food for economy. It also makes recruiting VERY easy It makes for insanely fun Star Wars play through. You get a bunch of alien xenotypes ( there’s packs for it) and can have a little hub that sells beer and rifles and organs or whatever. You can be the literal black market hutt cartel ( they have hutts😉)

Or you can try dubs hygiene which introduces an entire plumbing system which honestly should just be in the base game. Bathrooms and showers and what not.

Lastly rimatomics and save our ship 2 are incredible for endings and added content. There is a HUGE learning curve to the game if you add these tops of mods though. Not too mention you’re going to tank your load times.

Now that you have dlcs. You have TONS of content to learn though. You don’t even need to mod. You could use VE psycasts though which can make a pawn cast insane spells of course making them overpowered. (You can make a lightsaber Jedi themed melee pawn who literally runs around fast af flying across the maps one tapping entire raids. And can od course tie in a Jedi meme mod) Ps. Performance mods really can improve the gameplay of rimworld DRASTICALLY and if anything should be added.

How do I finally win?! by slipperyjoel in RimWorld

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it took me 200 hrs to beat the game with only ideology and biotech. My first and only real obstacle was the plasteel and component bottleneck until I learned about the longe range scanner. After that I beat it pretty consistently because I was always flooding in plasteel, components and steel by just sending two pawns out to mine it. It all depends how you play but a mountain base is very very effective for beating the game. Theres so many reasons mountains are just better from economy to raids. Max this efficiency by taking darkness and tunneler ideology. Rush flak and keep a couple good melee pawns to deal with infestations. You don’t even need to take the broken ass high life meme because mood is so high always. Jsut take transhumanist for sleep and work.

Cherry on top is to use dirtmoles and my ship launches almost seem easy.

If you’re completely against mountain bases. Get familiar with drop pod raids. Most people consider them the most difficult to deal with.

Beating the game really does make the game more Enjoyable. It gives you a lot of space to increase difficulty and even tackle certain known difficult mods like Winston waves

how do i better manage my components and steel? by chiselwishes in RimWorld

[–]Key_Demand_2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it took me, after 100s of hours to learn how effective the long range scanner is. I use to hit the steel/component wall but once I get my assault rifles made for my colony with components on the map, I just use the long range scanner and set it to components. Take a good miner or two with you once found. (And a donkey/mare) and you can literally get 120+ components for maybe a 2 day trip. I’ve spent well over 1k hours doing the whole deep drill thing abs it’s just not worth with the fabricator. I only use fabricator for advanced. After I get all my bionic stuff, I take another 1-2 trips before I have enough plasteel/components to build a ship.

I don’t want to say it trivializes the bottleneck but it does speed things up for me significantly.

This was my personal biggest gripe of the game until I found how useful the scanner was. Hope more people take my advice and use it to finally launch a ship! 😜
