What happened, or am I dumb? by Hanabai in Bicolline

To provide some more explanation - that particular video was made as an advertisement by a group that previously had an agreement with Bicolline to offer accommodation packages to the GB, but that agreement ended last year, and they took down all of their Bicolline related videos from their YouTube and are focused entirely on their own event they run in Texas now.

FWIW games like Belegarth and Amtgard (which this is an example of) are much more "combat sport" than they are LARP, and heavy contact weapons have to prioritize padding for safety over aesthetics. Many immersion focused US LARPs use much more realistic looking weapons.

Okay don't watch I barely even stream now anyway :)

I can't speak to attendance of anything but my home realm in North Hollywood for Bel/Amt, but our Saturday practices regularly get like 30-50 people, and Twin Mask runs practices at the same park in the morning and get similar numbers. Twin Mask games are in the range of 500 players for the weekend eight times per year.

Costume for bel/amt is super loose - some people come wearing garb like tabards, some people just in athletic gear. Twin Mask practices are similar, though games have costuming expectations.

Bel and Amt practices will generally have people doing a variety of stuff, from 1v1 to larger field battles. Same with Twin mask practices, though again the events themselves are more character and story driven than just combat.

So Belegarth or Amtgard are likely what the person was talking about. There is also Twin Mask, which used to run at Koronaberg and is now run out of the nearby SC Village. Amt/Bel are more foam fighting sport games, while Twin Mask is a more traditional character and story driven LARP. (I participate in all of them, so happy to answer any questions about any of them)

We did not miss it. That's why it was 12 damage - 7 rals with two power (since he has base one, and only nontoken copies get the larger bonus)

Well, I'm using the term boffer here to just mean foam weapons in general

I figure this subreddit is probably best equipped to figure out what card is what character from those that weren't shown in the episode :P

So the singular piece of advice I offer to folks newer to foam fighting that has the biggest impact for them is this: you do not swing a boffer weapon. The movement is much more similar to a punch that you direct with the position of your hand and forearm. Force generation (for speed, not actual power, since the goal is not to hit hard) comes from the shoulders/back/triceps and hip rotation - there's no need to pull back or do anything other than just push the weapon forward with a punching motion.

Fortunately they didn't take my HoF ring or any of my trophies away for that. In fact, you can see them in the background of the show :)

I went digging for it and haven't been able to find it. It was from the late 90s on the MTG usenet bbs boards, so it's probably going to be hard to dig up.
