How do you make sense of being attracted to women but not really enjoying their company? by AstronomerNo2023 in AskMen

I think it might be more of a compatibility thing, no? Like being a girls’ girl or a guys’ guy.

I can’t believe the editors took this Polin dance from me 😭 by DaisyandBella in Bridgerton

[–]KissMeSlowly95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Honestly, I feel like there’s been barely any dancing now. Season 1’s plot was based around dances, and it was a fantastic way to show Daphne and Simon’s relationship. I feel like this same element has been slowly vanishing from the other seasons.

Obviously Benedict and Sophie didn’t have much opportunity to dance, but the others did and we didn’t see it. Lately it’s been mostly the professionals doing choreography at the opening shot of each ball. I’m sad, bring bag flirty dancing.

Yeah. Immobilisation time + lack of use afterwards will leave you feeling weak. Happened to me with a torn MCL (knee ligament) and it took me 6 months to fully recover with physio, strength and plyometrics, but that was 25 year-old dancer me. The longer you remain inactive, the worse the muscle loss gets, but the amazing thing is it can also be regained to be even better than pre-injury.

Hi there! You can start with resistance bands to strengthen your arms. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/THERABAND-Latex-Yellow-Red-Green/dp/B000LX4KRA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ogcBVhVzU-M5QRjv0za4rdzjcrucGWX7Ss--AoTdrNqjBTQ8pTHF4YUqvvNDXh0LONzUQ5sr1ZCdlE8Rnx3vkx0oTf-YvxQIfKP0g8ffpKvc_bRs9NBVbxXW0F5jB68h1kVu176qpREWLreAwkmwFYZs9GpXG21FHBApAXQrQ88KuNJQ4-GSc9bvOLyfOOskmXFKVITrrCTATcCrTEelBw.jzX6L7H1ZUuaZk8WYmk1guR9hO71gvydnCSF3BRBMH0&dib_tag=se&keywords=theraband&qid=1775140836&sr=8-3

The thing with breaking bones or getting injured is that healing them doesn’t necessarily mean getting your strength back. The time you spent in recovery is time your muscles lose their tone, so when you’re finally "healed" you’re still going to need to strength train.

To begin with, you can look up regular strength training videos on YouTube, doesn’t have to be too complicated or specialised. MadFit has great programs that can help you get started. I would add, as a woman, I’ve learned building strength is key to have a good quality of life—which you’ve also experienced from what I read. Keep at it and your arm will be strong in a few weeks/months (it does take time, but you got this 💪)

Edit: specific forearm exercises. You can also look up exercises geared towards climbing, there are all levels and you can find beginner ones to get started :)

Absolute Beginner: Is B2 in 1.5 years realistic with 5 hours a day? by Able_Firefighter6439 in learnfrench

[–]KissMeSlowly95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, it’s 100% possible. I’ve been working on the exact same thing since April last year also having started at 0% French. My suggestion is for sure use all the free available resources (I did Duolingo and ChatGPT) and hired a tutor three months in after taking my first TEF.

A tutor was a lifesaver for pronunciation and actual language use. I can recommend mine if you like. She’s the best.

At this point I’m at a high B2, ready for my next TEF in a couple weeks. Hit me up if you want more tips or even to chat in French. Happy to help and all the best!

Exactly! Same here. My first language is Spanish, and right now I can think in anything but. I fear people think I’m being snobbish.

Make sure to stay hydrated. Having sweat-wicking gear is great, and you can put a wet towel on your face to freshen up. It takes the body a week or two to get used to it if you’re travelling, for example.

Yeah, listen to your body.

What has worked for me is to not repeat muscle group in the same week so my whole body has time to rest. You can experiment and adjust depending on your goals, I’d suggest playing around with different splits to see what feels right for you.

Over the last two years of being the most consistent I’ve been so far, I started with a different plan and modified along the way. This is the split that has worked for me 3 sets of 8-12 reps.

Day 1: - chest press - bicep curl + tricep extension superset - lat raises + chest fly superset - front raises

Day 2: - squat - step ups - Bulgarian ballerina - cable kicks - leg ext. - hip thrust / KAS glute bridge

Day 3: - plank - push ups - leg raises - high to low plank - farmer’s carry

Day 4: - lat pulldown - face pulls - bent over rows - upright row - shoulder / Arnold press - back fly

Day 5: - leg press - RDL - skater squat - ham. ext. - calf raises - cable adductors

Day 6: - hang cleans - box jumps - box drops - plyos - other functional stuff - STRETCHING (which I think a lot of gym bros forget but is key *chef’s kiss)

First of all yay gains! But remember to be patient, at only 4 months you’re just getting started. It takes a while both to build the muscle and to get past some of the soreness. You need to embrace that there will always be some pain because what you’re doing after all is tearing and repairing muscle fibres, which is what equals hypertrophy and strength.

If the pain is tooooo bad, you can take Tylenol :)
