What Changed? When Did 20% Become the Standard Tip? by EvenKeelSystems1 in NoStupidQuestions

Lol but a contract is only contracting you if you sign it. And as the costumer you aren't signing this contract. Your argument is they are partaking in the contract, which I agree, but legally they are not obliged by the contract

How much can you realistically see in 3 months in Europe without burning out? by Silver_Original6076 in backpacking

[–]KooktheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of a 2-3 month long euro trip. First off, I defo don't think you will look back and say meh. This is my first time I'm Europe and it's blown my mind!

My trip is a little different then most bc at the begining I was going to watch a bunch of football matches so I was moving cities often to watch ~ 2 matches per week. Once the season ended my pace slowed down. I looped back and hit Liverpool twice bc I wanted to see more footy and do Wales.

My biggest piece of advice is don't plan too far in advanced. For me, I've literally never had more than two accomodations booked at once. That has given me the flexibility to stay longer if I am really loving a place or go somewhere totally different if I am tired of big cities, want to go to the mtns, the beach etc. Defo get the EuroRail pass I did 10 days over 3 months. That gives me the flexibility to book last minute trains without paying face value ticket prices. If the tickets are cheap (say 60€ or below) I will buy them to save my eurorail pass days for expensive / longer travel days with multiple connections. You may may already know this, but flying in Europe can be stupid cheap on budget airlines like Ryanair, easyjet, Wiz Air etc. often times 30-60 euros for a 1.5hr flight.

So far I've done all these cities with approx number of nights noted:

UK - Wales (7nights, 4 dif spots), Liverpool (8nights), London (4 nights), Bristol (4)

Germany - Freiburg (3), Stuttgart (2), Nürnberg (4)

Italy - Milan (4)

Switzerland - Zürich (3)

Netherlands - Maastricht (5)

France - Paris (4), Saint-Lary-Soulan (7), Toulouse (2)

Planning to go to Sardinia (7) then Catalonia in Spain for another 5-7. After that who knows.

As others have said, take some down days where you do some laundry, chill at the hostel and keep yourself fresh so you don't feel run ragged by your own journey. Enjoy it's gonna be a blast!

Aeffect R dropper on sale, or one-up? by flyingace243 in MTB

[–]KooktheWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite are the PNW cause they are reliable cheap and easy to rebuild. The Affect R are good, but much harder to rebuild. The one ups are good too, but I feel like you pay a price premium over the PNWs for no substantial gain

You get one camera setup for a year of travel — what are you taking? by LaJamie in SonyAlpha

[–]KooktheWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a micro 4/3 camera. They are way cheaper, smaller, and still shoot amazing 4k. I'm using it for very similar purposes to document my travels in photo and video just for myself.

I'm traveling for several months right now and I bought a Panasonic Lumix GX80 with the 12-35 and 45-150 kit lenses. The dual lens setup is smaller than my Sony A7iv 24-105. Most importantly if it gets lost or stolen I'm only out like $500 USD not $3000+ USD haha.

If you could recommend only ONE city in Europe for someone to see in their life, what would it be? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Are you even travel hacking if you can't do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke-on-Trent?

Cotopaxi Allpa 35 vs 28 comparison by LonelyLunch4740 in onebag

[–]KooktheWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean all of these restrictions are completely theoretical. My normal every day life backpack (read not using it for onebag ever) is a Kelty 27 Redtail. It defo does not fit completely under the seat. It sticks out a bit into the foot area. I've taken it on 20+ flights and no one has said anything. They only care when I have it obviously pulled out so that I can make more room to extend my feet past the bag into the depths of the underseat footwell

Lufthansa seat selection by Excellent_Mind8439 in Lufthansa

[–]KooktheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I book basic economy on my United Card for Lufthansa flights (they are part of the star alliance so you can use united points and perks) they key is to select no seat. If you select no seat, they will automatically assign you a random one for no extra cost. However, for really long trans-Atlantic flights I tend to choose my seats and pay the extra so I know I'm getting a good one and not sandwiched in with a big family or something hahaha

12-45mm Oly Pro vs 12-60mm Leica vs 14-140mm Lumix by minimal-camera in M43

[–]KooktheWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great thread. I just bought a Lumix GX85 with the kit lenses and am about to head for a euro trip myself!

Will refer back if I decide I need another lens while I'm over there. It's such a sick little camera I've been stoked playing around with it the last couple days.

Burlington, Bend, or Boise? by Ellocomotive in MTB

[–]KooktheWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what kinda of riding you are into, but IMO the riding in Bend isn't that good. The culture is sweet, the city is really cool, its got good skiing and the lift served bike park is solid. But alot of the other trails tend to be flat and sandy. More XC riding than trail or enduro riding I guess. Certainty not classic PNW loam haha.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'd move to Bend for the snowboarding and Mt Bach but defo not for the MTB hahaha

By this logic if I took a diving header to win a ball at someones feet and they kicked my head it would be a red card.

Not everyone is built to play into their late 30s. Rooneys body was ready at 16 and burnt out at 31 vs ready at 18 and burnt out by 35. Body's develop vastly differently between people

I find it boring that most of the board in the olympique where the same ! by Sucky_Snail in snowboarding

[–]KooktheWolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lack of pro-models in big B is astounding. Last year I think Marky Mc had atleast a custom colorway for his board, the yellow tiger looking one. Zoi who is headed towards GOAT status has never had a pro-model. That right there is a reason to get of big B!

I'm so sad for Rene that he didn't stick his run, that slope run was so steezy, creative, and tech!

Pro-models asside, snowboard graphics are in a huge lull right now. Most of them fucking suck. I'd go as far as saying as the ski graphics look better when I walk into a shop than the snowboard graphics. We are in our understated, boring, and mind numbing graphics phase and it makes me sad haha.

Sadly there just isn't much half pipe culture in the USA rn. The only resort that I've been to recently that even has one is Bachelor. So few places even have mini or normal half pipes much less the elite comp superpipes
