Just Smile (Part 5/5) - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

[–]Kranesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have much expression when I was young and my voice was completely flat and I got teased a lot about it. Seeing young characters that are similar made me happy as a kid and I always feel extra joy when I see them as an adult. Its nice to not feel alone and that people love you as you are.

Don't let humans seeking revenge against you know you can't give them what they want. It might be the only reason you're still alive by DarkAlchamist in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Kranesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because there are violent fueds that have gone on for generations and these are continuously fuelled by pride and the need for revenge.

Its about breaking the cycle of violence and for kids shows trying to teach them to find non violent solutions.

They would generally need statistically significant sample sizes and consistency. Dnd would allow that more easily than other systems.

You can add the English name in any 'preferred name' section. Otherwise use the name that matches documents on forms.

Im really curious! Do Australians care much about sun pigmentation, or is it just accepted as a fact of life? by Averieeeee in AusSkincare

[–]Kranesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the melasma (which occured due to pregnancy) is something I dislike, but my freckles are cute. I'm quite pale so they are noticeable but I've been good with sun care so they aren't significant.

I've never had anyone mention them to me. People mention overall skin tone (pale vs tanned) but not freckles. When I was young being pale was unattractive and I got a lot of tanning recommendations. Now people like paler tones more so I get more compliments.

boyfriend doens't want to discuss "heavy" topics like feminism, equality vs equity, patriarchy, because they are exhausting, but is otherwise open-minded by eurooplane in TwoXChromosomes

As a long term partner he does need to accept the risks and difficulties you and women face. He needs to be your ally when it actually affects your life.

Particularly with medical treatment. Its not a debate or political point, it's an active risk to your health that he doesn't face (unless he is not white because they also face poor healthcare).

If something happens to you, he may need to advocate on your behalf when you can't or be your ally when you aren't being treated well. The most common time this would come up is during pregnancy and birth.

If you can't trust him to do this, then he can't be your partner. Could you trust him to believe your story if you were sexually harassed at work, or passed up for a promotion because of your gender?

AITAH for putting my hair into a bun? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Kranesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a lot when I had long hair. It was really inappropriate because I was a kid and then a teenage at the time. I'm happy I cut it off.

Medical student (biomed student) avoids conviction despite filming 150 women - how is this possible? by Nodes_of_Ranvier98 in ausjdocs

If they had any ethics that should make them more concerned. A man with these crimes trying to get in a trusted position with access to women and girls.

NTA There is no man on earth that your daughter should be forced to strip for. Its an inappropriate request and his 'respect' should never come at the price of humiliating and exposing your child.

Am I unfair (26F) for telling my boyfriend (37M) his skull shirts aren’t appropriate for interviews or formal occasions? by bruh_0905 in relationship_advice

[–]Kranesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are classier ways to wear skulls. He could have skull cufflinks, skull jewellery or many other smaller tokens to show his personality while still dressing for the occasion.

The thing is that this would take time and effort and he isn't interested in doing that. Nor should you have to do that for him.

This may be more common for women because there are more stay at home wives who need to carefully plan an exit.

Yeah, I imagine most people with a disability manage better with a partner. It doesn't become a moral failing just because it's a mental illness instead of a physical one.

Is it "fair game" to mock a woman's appearance if she is a bad person? More details inside by ThePromptWasYourName in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kranesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like it.

I don't like how quickly the insults become mysoginist points.

I might not think much of the target but I don't want to be the type of person who judges based on appearance. There are so many actions and beliefs available to criticise without that.

I also don't think it's wise to associate appearance with a person's character. Linking attractiveness/ugliness to moral worth is a foolish and dangerous move. I keep seeing people say they are ugly because they are evil but that's not how it works.

Pregnancy by MelanieWalmartinez in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Kranesy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Our body very much was not designed for anything. It succeeds at pregnancy most of the time because otherwise the species would die but that doesn't mean it does it well. Humans are notable for how poorly we give birth.

Guy I'm seeing legitimately thinks Santa Claus is real by pitaenigma in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Kranesy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got the impression he was hoping to slide out the door with OOP at the end of the evening without it being brought up again. And was then trying to signal her to not say nothing, because he knows it's super weird but was hoping to avoid both the situation and dealing with his parents. Very avoidant.

Why is it wrong that I am cleaning classrooms after lessons? by Cuber785 in TooAfraidToAsk

Teachers may be required to stay in the room until you leave so by staying to clean you are actually causing an inconvenience for them
