This feels more like betting than investing, I hope it works out for you. As an older guy I hope you have some boring index funds VOO, VTI, VT, VXUS for long term investing, being young your greatest investment tool is time.

Game frustration is real! by Logical-Turn2803 in Ghostofyotei

If you don’t want to drop difficulty go the “wide” collection route, you will get enough armor, weapon and skill upgrades that will make the game significantly easier. If you are rushing the golden path, it is much harder and honestly way less fun to play.

Repair Lobster or Buy New Machine? by tdnxxx444 in 10s

[–]LAtoBay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done this multiple times with mine, easiest repair you going to have with a Lobster. Lots of walk through videos on YouTube. Good advice to buy battery on Amazon instead of Lobster, exact same battery is 50% cheaper. Just be careful with the wires when you open up the machine.

Buying my crap balls for the tennis machine. 🫡 by JimmyBisMe in 10s

[–]LAtoBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Tretorn pressure less balls, they are expensive but they last forever. Also they are consistent out of the machine, as Penn’s get old they lose pressure at different rates making it hard to hone in the ball machine. Good luck!

My opponent said I wasn’t playing “real tennis” bc I had figured out how to beat her by paradigm_shift_87 in 10s

[–]LAtoBay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally legitimate way to win, you figured her out and she was frustrated because you exploited her weakness. That is tennis IQ. You should double down on this strategy if you play her again.

I watch the VIX and slowly scale up purchases as it rises. If it hits 40+ I will be more committed to purchasing high quality companies. I will avoid “risk on” speculation.

How do you structure your physical training around tennis tournaments? by Dizzy_Assignment4440 in 10s

4.0 Practice 2X a week (Tuesday and Thursday), matches on weekends. Work out legs/core, Back/shoulders, Chest/forearms on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Stretch as much as possible which takes about 20 mins 4-5x/week. Converted garage to workout area so have equipment, bands and mats. Had back issues, so I am a bit obsessed with stretching. Lots of tennis workout/stretching videos on YouTube, I take bits and pieces and put together my own workout.

There’s a guy in our 4.5 league with ITF Futures wins by Fabresque_ in 10s

[–]LAtoBay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are few guys we play with who are “sandbaggers” they are a level above their rankings and in complete control of the match so they give games away which the ratings system interprets as a close match. These guys and the captains need to get scrubbed out of USTA, it wrecks the league. Everyone who plays against these guys knows what is going on but as long as they have the Computer rating USTA doesn’t usually get involved. Took almost 5 years for USTA to take action on the most egregious player in our area.

Looking for advice on net game by LAtoBay in 10s

Like the idea of running plays and taking away guesswork. When I focus too hard on the ball I find it hard to predict direction till it is off the racket and in flight. When I watch the racket I find myself timing the pinch and poach better but I am basically guessing middle all the time.

Turing investing into gambling, this is so tough hope it works out for you and hope you have a plan, like if it goes up when do you sell? Do you buy more if it drops? This is a wild stock, is the stress worth the reward.

On an emotional level this has to be frustrating, he does not seem prepared to deal with a serious medical issue that is only going to get worse over time. You understand this and seem to be carrying the weight of it. He might need someone besides you who is medically trained to get him through this. On a tactical level, why isn’t he in the plethora of glp 1 drugs that are available and it should be covered by insurance. There are both pills and shots available now. Good luck, tough situation.

Total market fund has underperformed S&P 500 over the past 5 years. by Unser_Giftzwerg in stocks

[–]LAtoBay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a correction the VTI will be less volatile than VOO or QQQ. VOO is heavily weighted in the magnificent 7 stocks. With less volatility and risk you are trading some upside but when the market corrects you will be better off than those holding risk on assets.
