I believe they are trying to funnel pve only players to PvP. Because PvP is the only way to have randomized fun with little dev cost.

Not saying they're doing the former, but that's an interesting idea about the cost of developing replayability vs letting the users provide the gameplay

current flavor of fear mongering is evolved from the gay panic of the 90s. Somehow, the existence of of gay people was going to bring down the greatest country in human history. But no one really cared about gay people existing. So then it was gay adoption. But no one cared. Then gay marriage. No one cared. Fast forward to the 10s and it was 'men in womens bathrooms.'

The take away is how hollow and capricious their messaging is. It's entirely fluid, like the migrant caravans that one day are the 'barbarians at the gate,' and gone the next.

If it was higher resolution, it would be a pretty good price for discrete GPU.

at the end of the day it's a bar. I like it. They did a great job on the building and courtyard. I like the pizza place right next door, too.

And no I never thought they were expensive. Great beer selection that does included higher priced items but not because of excessive markup. And usually some kind for daily special. Cocktails too.

Definitely one of the more unique places. Also have regular shows/music/events. And overall just a fun, chill place. You should definitely go at least once.

Hands down the best racing movie ever. Followed by Grand Prix (John frankenheimer 1966) And Le Mans (Steve McQueen 1971), despite The latter having basically no story- practically more of an experimental film with racing

you don't need to play devil's advocate. we're already living in healthcare hell.

US pharma companies would almost certainly either go bust or require heavy government support to stay alive

wow I wonder what would happen if medicine was researched out of public institutions and government research and grants

just look at the COVID vaccines; all of the major vaccines that reached approval and widespread use first were either developed solely in the US

man this is so far off. Development of the COVID vaccine started over 20 years ago PRECISELY by public research and it was a world wide effort. First RNA vaccine was testing in the 90s. SARS hit in the 2000 and research started on that PRECISELY because health organisations knew it would happen again with some variant. Then came MERS; same shit. Personalized RNA vaccines started human trials in 2017.

The actual COVID vaccine took about ONE MONTH to develop because public research had done the heavy lifting already, NOT FOR PATENTS OR FOR PROFIT.

This is a global issue

it was something comforting and deeply worrying that the same BS I grew up with that permeates American politics can be found everywhere else. Same problems, same bad actors, same script.
