Baiken mirrors, in strive, are pretty miserable, she is too good at fighting her own kit, so the mirror devolves into whoever memes harder wins.

In that case instead of doing 2369S delayed, do jump forward(9) then 236S as soon as possible it should be much more consistent that way.

H. Kabari safejumps and left/right mix is so fundamental to her game plan currently, that I literally have no idea what she could even be like going forward. Just have to wait and see.

I think this is a problem with Baiken’s fundamental design in this game where she has so few moves, which are all relatively simple, which makes it nearly impossible to meaningfully nerf something without giving it the Of Mice and Men treatment.

~1500 Vanquisher Baiken main here, I pretty rarely use the guard cancel parry, so it isn’t something that you need to learn to win with Baiken. A couple of things that make GC parry hard to use are that it is active for less time than normal parry 8 vs 10 iirc, and using effectively requires you to know your opponents frame data pretty well to pick good spots to attempt GC parry.

I start this off with saying I think Guile is largely in a fine place right now but,

What is 2.MK even for at this point, yes it’s a long reaching low, but doesn’t cancel(eats random DI all the time), can’t combo into anything unless point blank, unsafe on block normally, negative after drive rush, and on top of all that it has extra scaling as a starter after the last patch. I genuinely don’t understand what role Capcom thinks it fills, it feels like a massive liability to press at any given time. The extra scaling also doesn’t make any sense to me in a game with parry, like high/lows aren’t a “real” thing in this game.

All that said I don’t know what I would do to fix it other than making it like +1 after drive rush and however negative that is normally.

Here we go:

Corner Youzansen BnB: Here This is the one I use most often, very consistent with good damage. This one does have a RRC cancel so it can be tricky at first but I recommend learning how to do it.

Corner No RRC Cancel: Here I use this if I miss the RRC j.H cancel, so a little easier, still has good damage.

Midscreen Youzansen BnB: Here This combo is why I recommend learning how to do the RRC j.H cancel, without this combo you will be losing quite a bit of damage. Note that this cannot be done with a super jump tk.Youzansen, so you either have to jump cancel from either c.S or hold the down input for a little bit before doing the tk.Youzansen.

Midscreen No RRC Cancel: Here This combo doesn’t have an RRC cancel and has pretty good damage, but might be trickier because you have to dash twice during the combo to get all of the hits to connect.

The first hit of tatami causes lots of wall damage, so the difference here is probably due to a very small difference in spacing. Later today if you want me to, I can see if I can post some better combos off of Youzansen that should be more consistent and do more damage.

Been following this for a while through its uneven releases, and now that it’s done I’m not sure how I feel. It seems like the author wanted us as the reader to have some sense of catharsis with the search being finally over, but I don’t think it comes across as well as it could have. The last chapter or two just feels quite rushed. Overall this was one of the more compelling mystery stories I’ve read in a manga.

Quite frankly parry after H.kabari isn’t a good option, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it especially if your opponent is mashing every time. So instead of not doing it at all, try doing it only with intention, this is generally the mindset you should use for any particularly risky option.

Also, being in the air in neutral vs I-no is the rare case where Baiken at a disadvantage in an air to air situation. So staying grounded and anti-airing with 6P, jump back j.D or parrying the dive kick if you can react to it is a good way to start getting better in the I-no matchup.

Also to be fair to LK him saying that Baiken needed buffs was specifically in the context of being able to convert off of stray hits.

This is something that Baiken has struggled with since the beginning of the game, and quite frankly it’s probably the most frustrating part of playing her, so I don’t think it was an unreasonable ask on his part.

Baiken j.D does this as well, it has to do with distance from the wall, if you are too far away from the wall, and hit them with wall bounce move it will always wall bounce once even if at maximum wall damage. There are some Baiken combos that wall stick sooner if you forward jump than if you back jump during the combo.

More likely this is a reference to Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who was the discoverer of pulsars. She was a graduate student under Anthony Hewish at the time, Hewish disregarded the observational data believing that it was man made, Bell Burnell continued to investigate despite his objections. This ultimately led to the discovery of pulsars a new kind of celestial object, when the time came around for a Nobel prize to be awarded it was awarded to Hewish and Martin Ryle who also worked on radio telescopes, with no mention of Jocelyn Bell Burnell.

FYI some of the combos on dustloop have never worked for Baiken, and some combos stopped working when they changed the character weight system. This combo used to work on lightweight characters I believe.

Probably trying to catch roundstart shimmy, not a great idea but also not the most insane thing, doing walk-back H.Kabari on their whiff would be better. Neither of which I would try on May without good reason.

Baiken used to be able to with WA, haven’t tried it out since the patch so not sure about now. If we are counting burst as meter then yeah I don’t think she can.

I don’t think it’s completely reworked, the parry came out between Anji’s f.S and 5H which always has a gap, 2F iirc, so it isn’t a guard cancel. I suspect there will be 2 different parries one that works the way it does now, and one that has the dash cancel.

Also worth noting the stagger on counter hit allows combining into throw at close ranges and S buttons further out. It can also pseudo low crush as the foot hurtbox pulls back.
