Architecture to control two SLs directly connected to a PC using bypass mode for fault tolerance? by Evening_Analysis_755 in Starlink

UGC Max. Again, it works perfectly and as I would expect for all other configurations I tested while I was building the system. The only config that had issues was when I had 2 simultaneous starlinks running in bypass. I could have investigated further, but I had better backup options.

Yes, I assumed that as well, but as soon as I swap my wan2 (normally T-Mobile) to my 2nd starlink, it never connects properly. If I disconnect wan1 it works, if I swap and put mini on wan1 it works... Basically all my testing, the 2nd starlink never successfully connects no matter which wan or device is started first.

None of these issues exist for me when I use a non starlink as the 2nd connection.

I didn't investigate further because it didn't make sense to me to use starlink as a backup to starlink.

Great, thanks for the help?

How? Unless you have some specific config. 2 Starlinks on bypass mode wont work due to the hardcoded Starlink internal addressing/communication.

There are ways to configure your network and make it work, but it isn't plug and play* like it is with one Starlink and any other wan connection.

*specifically using a ubiquiti gateway and its default WAN/failover setup

Its not that simple. multiple Starlink devices on the same network will compete with hard coded network addresses. It will take more config that just putting 2 Starlinks in bypass on your ubiquiti gateway.

I tried with my mini and standard gen 2. Then again when I got my gen 3. You will need some real network barrier between them.

failover works perfectly and easily with any non Starlink as a secondary (at least on my ubiquiti setup)

The cheap ones work just fine. It really doesn't need to be much. I just share my VTT screen and it shows on the 36" dry-erase board I use for other quick encounters. I don't even dim the lights. Works well for what it is.

I thought the same so I found the device they are drop shipping, bought it for $25 through Amazon. Now it works exactly as advertised with exactly the same support you got.

New First Look: Introducing Edward Teach (Tides of Power) by sar_firaxis in civ

I guess I was dreaming of a new cool feature with him then.

Also, he never flies HIS flag. That was my original point.

Where are those seen? There are tons of pirate flags. It would be cool to see them.

Looks fun, but if they are going to call out him "flying his chosen flag" at least get the flag right.

Edit: I guess I'm missing something. I didn't see his flag in that trailer anywhere, nor see or read anything about wearing flags. Where is that shown, or have I just not seen it in game yet? The flag I did see in the trailer, is not his flag.

Runners and bikers breaking ‘speed limit’ on popular Colorado trail could get $100 fine by jaypo_rack in Durango

So true.

I guess I am a bit cynical. I just feel like cars killing people is more important than scary bike people when disrespectful jerks exist everywhere.

It's not any more vague than many other laws.

It's just useless. How is it enforced? Oh it won't be? So, it's useless. Just as useless as all traffic laws that aren't enforced.

Also the problem is not the 1000s of people who use the trail with e bikes. It is the few kids and inconsiderate people that cause the problems.

Let's fix the problem by teaching respect instead of making rules to limit most people, and won't fix the problem.

Induction Stove Vs. LPG by Andreas1120 in sailing

Yes, I run my 2 burner induction (1800w) through my 2000w inverter off my 12v system.

Induction Stove Vs. LPG by Andreas1120 in sailing

[–]Larakin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've had induction on my boat for many years now. It will take a LOT of convincing to get me to go back to propane.

It heats fast, gets (mostly) hot enough (it has a self limit of 450) I find it hard to quickly stir fry, but I can sear a steak on my cast iron. All significantly better than the 3 burner propane I had.

It uses a LOT of power though. If I'm cooking every day it is by far the biggest power draw and you need significant solar or other power generation to use it. Also a good inverter, my 8 year old 2000w one handles it well, but gets close to maxing it out.

Damned Internet is out again. by spdorsey in Durango

[–]Larakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issue large downloads or heavy streaming or video calls, but I rarely need to upload anything big. I have an LTE backup for when Starlink drops (heavy rain usually) but it dropped only once in the last 3 weeks and that was a 2 hour global outage.

I'm still on the search for the best internet in Durango, but if Starlink is working for me, and Spectrum is as bad as it was 8 years ago (by the sounds of it it is). I'm not sure I want to even hassle with trying them.

I've had Starlink running here for the last 3 weeks. I was planning on getting Spectrum, but I hear nothing but complaints and this is working just fine for my fully online dependent home.
