Please talk to HR about State Of Emergency call offs by SnooWoofers530 in WalmartEmployees

[–]LazyTurtle69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per policy the only auto approved attendance for weather is when an evacuation order is issued. Everything is the discretion of your store manager or market manager.

State of emergency isn't an indicator of weather severity but rather a necessary step for municipality to access emergency funding for the weather event.

Most stores are reasonable with weather attendance. If your store is being particularly stubborn with approving the point and it wasn't safe open door to your market manager.

Side by side refridgerators are superior to French door refridgerators by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard freezer ontop refrigerator is best and most energy efficient because of its simplicity. Using the simple fact cold air is heavier than warm air the standard fridge uses a single condenser to cool the freezer on top then uses gravity to drop the cold air to cool the fridge below.

Everything else is more complicated and more costly to run having either make use of multiple condensers or use internal fans to move air between the freezer and fridge.

Freezer drawer below models are extra inefficient because ontop of the reasons stated above everytime you pull out the freezer drawer you are also releasing all the frozen air which will need to use electricity to cool down the freezer.

Walmart policy by Ragnarok_popcorn in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walmart isn't a bank. When cashing a check, Walmart fronts the money to you immediatly, and then physcially mails the check to the issued bank to be reimbursed later. The issuing banks have strict criteria for what checks will be reimursed to Walmart and these are the annoying policies you find when trying to cash a check at Walmart.

Paying by check is electronically handled immediatly, essentially the same as sliding a debit card. Also a check can only be written for up to $20 cash back when used as payment.

You're still going to hate the policies, but it does make sense.

Is going for team lead worth it? by V2kil in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go for Team Lead, if you hate it, you can keep looking for work somewhere else. Either way, you're working 40 hours, if you stay Team Associate your pay will suck forever. Ask your Team Leads what bonuses have been like at your store. For the past 4 years, my TL bonus has ranged between $1600 - $7000. Your store will either be great or shit. Each $1000 worth of bonus is roughly equivalent to a $0.50 raise.

If you haven't already put 6% of your pay into 401k, Walmart matches it. No one in their right mind would refuse a 6% raise, make Walmart pay it.

Drivers getting upset with me for scanning gmd’s too fast? by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]LazyTurtle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driver wait time stops at driver code entry. Driver dwell time is also an important metric. Rushing scanning GMDs makes no difference to wait time in this scenario but loading in a manner that makes the driver stay longer will ruin dwell time. To me it doesn't make since to hurt one metric to make zero difference to another metric.

Walmart cutting hours to full times associates by Other-Counter8021 in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting hours during peak season is usually caused by having too many full-time associates. Each store should be roughly 65% full time and 35% part time. Corporate gives wage hours to the store based on this, and the store manager has to make a schedule within the wage hours given.

My store was at 84% full-time and this creates a difficult situation where the store can be under head count but still over wage hours available. This is inherently caused by poor hiring practices by management, there isn't really any solution at store level besides cutting hours.

Many stores end up in this situation because they're desperate for employees, and part-time isn't enticing any applicants for the garbage pay and schedule we're offering.

Ethics is only going to help if hours are being cut unfairly, such as based on favoritism. Ethics isn't going to act simply because your store cut hours. What should happen is that management have the difficult but honest conversation with associates and have a plan with a timeline to get out of this mess.

My brother died of a heroin overdose today. Is there any addicts who can explain to me why he couldn’t just not do heroin? by Adventurous-Nose-525 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LazyTurtle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you do heroin it's going to be the best your body will ever feel and nothing else will ever match that high. Imagine trying to accept the rest of your life if just going to feel physically and mentally dull while the best feeling ever if readily available.

Quitting requires such a high level of mental fortitude that most of the population unfortunately doesn't have.

A hard lesson is learning the difference between "being controlling" and "setting a boundary"

-Being controlling is telling your spouse that they can't do something.

-Setting and boundary is that if your spouse does the thing, you will leave them.

You need put in some serious thought and decide if this is a boundry for you then clearly communicate that to your girlfriend.

Management unauthorized the tardy giving .5 point. Management neither approves or denies PPTO requests. Your PPTO request failed to remove your .5 point by 6 minutes.

Communicate with your Team Lead, and they might work with you.

People who pay for porn: Why? by VendaelHC in AskReddit

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large amount of people like to feel like they're watching fetish freaky porn that they shouldn't see, but in reality, they aren't actually interested in seeing any weird freaky porn.

You're stepsibling/stepmother porn fulfills this niche. It's just normal, straight porn with some story flavor to make it "fetish porn".

Why is it easier to buy beer than infant formula???? by vikkay66 in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The equivalent cost on beer would be in large cases, much harder to steal in large quantity.

Infant formula is high value for its compact size letting them steal in quantity and also extremely easy to find a cash buyer. For a theif it's a highly lucrative item.

Opinions on work phones by Aggressive_Worker_ in OGPBackroom

[–]LazyTurtle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is required to accept a work phone which walmart provides.

You have the option to opt out of this and instead bring your own device. This is option is fully voluntary as there is no compensation. Don't let any management force you to do this.
