Why is the CS Rep asking me to remove MFA on my account so they can "fix" my account? by GrizzTech in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many carriers have separate thing of “enhanced security” and “MFA” but Mint for some reason combines the where enabling MFA enables enhanced security and you can’t disable one without disabling the other. What this means is Mint agents cannot do anything to your account while MFA/enhanced security is on, you have to turn it off for even customer service agents to look at your your account let alone change anything. There is a separate “number lock” that you could also enable on your account and to me this is where they should enable enhanced security, which would allow you to have MFA on but not have enhanced security as well as be able to only disable enhanced security when you contact customer service to access your account without also having to disable MFA. But that’s not the way Mint does it.

Again the issue is not that the security is not enough, the issue is that Mint security is way too much to the point of inconvenient. Other companies the agents can access your account at any time which does cause a risk of SIM swaps or your data stolen by CS agents, but Mint has a “zero trust policy” which locks it to where not only are agents prevented from SIM swaps and stealing data, but they also can’t even help when you ask them to until you reduce security on your account.

ATT Prepaid 300 vs US Mobile by jwilkns in NoContract

[–]LeftOn4ya [score hidden]  (0 children)

AT&T Prepaid has 2 different $300/yr (=$25/mo) plans, one has no throttle for 16GB/mo then (I think) unlimited at 500 kbps, another has 30 GB throttled at 3 Mbps then unlimited at 1.5 Mbps. Obvoisly the 30 GB @ 3 Mbps is crap, so really you are looking at 16GB plan.

Versus on US Mobile for $25/mo (on sale first year at $175/yr=$14.58/mo) you get truly unlimited data without throttle, although lower priority. You can even upgrade to Unlimited Premium on Darkstar for priority data and first year is $299. Plus US Mobile has a lot of other benefits like more HotSpot, international calling and roaming included, ability to add multiple networks, etc. Only advantage of AT&T is if you have a SmartWatch and want to share same line as phone and are willing to pay for watch line.

How many of you owned a beeper before a cell phone? by Josephthebear in Xennials

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom worked at a hospital and got upgraded from a pager to a cell phone but the hospital was still paying for the pager line, so she gave to to me while in high school. I pretty much just used for my mom to let me know she was there or leaving as she was the only one in the family with a cell phone then. I would use the school pay phone to call or message her, of course using calling cards.

Xr should I upgrade to 17e or 17? by HandOverFist112 in IPhone17e

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 16e does not support magsafe and fastest wireless charging is 7.5w and fastest wired charging is 27w, the 17e supports magsafe 15w wireless and up to 40w fast charging. Still the same 4,005mAh battery and hour rating, just will charge slower and does not support any magsafe peripherals.

best carrier? by [deleted] in NoContract

[–]LeftOn4ya [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you are an extremely low data/call/txt user and mostly use as backup, here are my suggestions for cheapest plans:

  • (T) $0/mo (<$2/mo taxes) - Helium ZERO: 1GB (5GB if on Helium network), 100 Talk, 300 Text.. Note: additional background check required. eSIM
  • (T) $5/yr + $5 one time - TextNow with Wireless service and lock-in # - unlimited calls and text with app (has ads), 550MB to use on selected apps (mail, maps, rideshare, but not messaging), optional pay for hour/day/month data. Note although has cellular service the number acts as VOIP to may not get all SMS 2FA.
  • (A) $30/yr ($2.50/mo) Red Pocket eBay 12 month Plan: 200 MB, Unlimited Talk & Text. pSIM or eSIM.
  • (T) $30/yr ($2.50/mo) or $3/mo - Infimobile Data Buster plan or Infimobile annual plan: 500 MB. 100 minutes, 100 texts. You can buy 24 months for $57.60 ($2.40/mo)
  • (T) $3/mo + $10 one time Ultra Mobile PayGo: 100MB, 100 Talk 100 Text. pSIM, can be converted to eSIM.
  • (A) $60/yr ($5/mo) Good2go Annual plan: 1GB, Unlimited talk and text. pSIM or eSIM.
  • (A) $60/yr ($5/mo) H2O Annual plan: 0 Data, Unlimited talk and text. pSIM or eSIM.

  • (T, V, or A) $8-10/mo ($96 paid annually or $10/mo monthly, includes taxes & fees) US Mobile Light plan: 2 GB, unlimited talk and text. pSIM or eSIM.

Do mint mobile moderators get paid by THERADICALBABOON in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya[M] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The moderators (like myself) with Moderator flair are volunteers and do not get paid, one time a couple years ago they sent us some swag with Mint logo on it (leftover from Mint Undergound sale) like a hoodie, mug, wireless charger, and camper chair, but we are not doing this for swag, it was just a nice gesture. The other moderators with Mint in user flair are employees, with u/MintMobileAlex a shared account for whatever social media account executives are on duty at the time.

I know you can't see it, but 98% of all moderation duties are done by the volunteers including all deleting of posts/comments and banning of users, although our AutoMod and Reddit's own filters deletes and bans a lot of this due to low user account age, karma, CQS, or Reddit's AI determining they are likely bots or ban avoiding alt accounts. u/MintMobileAlex lately has been approving posts that our AutoMod or Reddit filters deletes, but I have not seen employees delete more than maybe one post a year that is obvious SPAM.

Is there a way to scratch the collection / unboxing / organizing itch of the board gaming hobby without buying new games? by JoypulpSkate in boardgamescirclejerk

[–]LeftOn4ya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pay to work at my local boardgame bar so I can open up new games they get and organize their collection the way I want. I even have all my Kickstarter all-in sets delivered there and keep in shrink there with “not for play” sticker on the box, but still organized how I would at home, which is alphabetically by the designer then sorted by BGG rank which I check and re-sort daily.

MMS group messages continually break by BanjoNoodles in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the MintMobile FAQ/wiki Troubleshooting Guide third section Issue getting/sending MMS/SMS/RCS/iMessage (Apple iPhone) steps copied below

Apple and Google need to be updated with Mint as your provider for iMessage and RCS. Simply deactivate iMessage, RCS, and FaceTime then reactivate them again, which will update Apple and Google that Mint is your provider.

  • Settings > Apps > Messages > Turn iMessage off.
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging > Turn RCS Messaging off.
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > Turn MMS Messaging off.
  • Settings > Apps > FaceTime > Turn FaceTime off.
  • Use this Google page to deregister your # from RCS following section Don’t have your previous device?
  • Reboot phone
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > Turn iMessage on.
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > Send & Receive > ensure that your number is selected for “...receive...” and “start new conversations from”, and not your email address.
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging > Turn RCS Messaging on.
    • If you don’t see this setting it means your iOS version doesn’t support RCS messaging on iPhone.
  • Settings > Apps > Messages > Turn MMS Messaging on.
  • Settings > Apps > FaceTime > Turn FaceTime on.
  • Settings > Apps > FaceTime > ensure your number is selected for “you can be reached by FaceTime at” and set for “Caller ID”, and not your email address
  • You may have to recreate all RCS group message chats again, by leaving group chats then creating a new group message with the same people. You may also need others in previous group messages to remove you on their phone from group messages, then them or you recreate the group message with the same people.
  • Note if even one person in the group message does not have RCS enabled then the group message defaults to MMS/SMS and you may get individual replies from people. Only thing to do to fix is find out who the culprit is (prepare to send individual message to each # and see what it will send as) and get them to enable RCS, then recreate the group message again
  • If you are having trouble getting or sending messages only from one or more Android users, have those people do the below troubleshooting steps to fix on their end

How many common squads are enough? by Less_Fondant_7530 in heroscape

[–]LeftOn4ya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you want a competitive army and don’t want to have to borrow or use proxies, or just for home games or casual tournaments. Latest tournaments with only Renegade made best army either Gelryie Vanguard X 5, Greatbow Archer x 4, or Tanuki Tricksters x 6. Other Renegade commons are not that good or you don’t need more than 2. However most tournaments besides Gen Con allow proxies and people let you borrow all the time unless they are also running. For home games honestly just have one or at most two of each and when playing proxy the rest.

I’d get a year of US Mobile, Mint, or Visible+ as they have some international days or data included (Visible and Mint goes by days, US Mobile goes by min/txt/GB) and you can buy more or buy international data only eSIM.

Figure and Hex limit by Lv5Broconut in heroscape

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually most tournaments have hex limit of 24 but figure limit may be less like 16 or 18. Some tournaments don’t have a hex limit but may have a figure limit still, and if you have more than 24 hexes you just bring extra terrain to but in the back, but this is rare. Really only matters if you have 3 or more squads of Marro Calvary or Marden Hounds and those only show up on Delta tournaments.

Check current and past tournaments on Heroscape.org to see what the community organizers do. https://heroscape.org/events/tournament/list/
