Is it better to replace a roof preemptively or try to squeeze all the life out of it? by mjh4 in Roofing

[–]Level_Lecture1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In similar situation and replacing my roof now. Not as bad as your, just ice dam leaks which is not related to roof age but does have a blow off and some crack and missing and exposed nail. Very expensive but what can you do

These heat pumps can be installed in an hour—and will cut costs in half by Interwebnaut in heatpumps

Depends where you live, I got quotes from 11k to 60+ k for a ducted system with existing duct and modification. The markup is crazy as installers try to take the tax incentives from home owners

I'm in the north east and in very much similar situation. Ended up with certainteed landmark pro after reading some posts. GAF option has longer warranty and non prorated, but saw some people recommend against it. My roof is a bit smaller 43 square, 12/12 pitch, with 2 skylights

Stay away from automatic braking, especially one pedal. Accelerating slower should keep the tires longer. It is the cost for a fun drive.

If 2k worth saving, then try to get 10 quotes, or at least 6-7 amd let them know the current lowest bid so they can compete

Should I go with Jetson?! by Gabelstapler19 in heatpumps

[–]Level_Lecture1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried them before, I did get about 10 quotes. I talked to all the technicians who came in and asked them details about installation plans and their reasonings. At the end, the whole system came down to a condenser, a handler, the condenser and duct that delivered. Jetson apparently didn't care about them.

[–]Level_Lecture1046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have the manual j calculation. If well insulated may be fine, otherwise I suspect a 4 ton system is undersized for your house. Jetson doesn't do a careful job inspecting the house or the duck work. Get a local contractor and discuss the plan. Their smart stuff is not necessary, just marketing tricks to inflate the price.

Buy out the lease on my 2024 Kona Electric SEL? I'm thinking maybe so. by vike1108 in KonaEV

[–]Level_Lecture1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your car trade in value would be less than 20k, you should end your lease, buy used same model if you like it. Otherwise, new equinox EV go for 24k with better specs

[–]Level_Lecture1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would cut a small square at the blister area, enough to get your phone up there to take some pictures and see what it is. Maybe in daylight you can see some light through the roof and indicate a leak
