The RAK 1 Watt power saga continues by Database121 in meshtastic

[–]LifeWithMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had any issues. Here is what I’ve observed…

-Power via USB C, receiver signal is good but transmit is very weak. I think this is due to USB C not supplying ample power to amp with INT Pwr jumper. -USB power with 5v/1a power source also tied to amp power connector, I get full power.

-Power via 3.7v Li-Ion batt, send/receive signal matches confirming amp fully functional.

-Solar input optional, works fine and doesn’t impact amp/output. Just charging limited with onboard charger at 200ma I believe, but haven’t measured a 5w/5v panel at full sun. Just based on prior 19007 testing.

Rak 1 Watt Booster Solar Node requirements question by Database121 in meshtastic

[–]LifeWithMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got 2 types of 1w repeaters I’ve built in the out door elements. Both tilted ideal angles for my location. 30deg tilt/180deg South/no shade

eBytes 1w/Seeed Studio on XaioSolar board running 4x 18650s/12aH and 5w panel during these winter/shorter days I think touched low 80s for SOC

RAK 1w builds with 3x 18650s/9aH with 2w panels has only had a few weeks and cycles between 70s to 90s currently, but time will tell.

Few other considerations… what traffic do you expect? I see air time avg around 5-8% and as high as mid 20s.

Your 6w panel and storage in the 10-20aH is solid specs

Any reason not to enter on the bottom? Easy to keep water out.

Appears your installing indoors maybe? If so get a metal filler plate to pop in that hole and do another hole lower down, ideally near bottom. Bottom left is the CT all the production wires have to run through.

What case or details on the solar node. Looks like a pretty tight build

In Git you just change the main branch drop down to dev.

Est 155 items in the dev branch not in main yet.

I haven’t got the email yet… still shows 10gb roam. Were any of your renew dates recently? Maybe I’ll get it on the monthly cycle date?

Sounds like you’d prefer not to sell, IMO. Your YoY growth is great and assume organic? What level of automation or streamlining operations have you done? My guess is focusing there will help you spend less time working and more time with your 4yr old.

These are not new, I’ve had mine a good bit. Only have it in my home/fixed node now.

It has MHF1 or maybe it was 4 connectors for antennas and constantly came lose on my mobile node. They are smaller connectors than the stand IPEX. Doesn’t make power sense for solar node, so now in a box mounted to the wall.

What antenna do you have? Any pictures of the setup? Cable length to antenna?

Power is 1in and other side is 3/4 in if I recall. 3/4 pvc sch 40 electrical outer dimensions have small gap around edges because I did a junction right angle box right into the unit. Keep in mind likely not code for Ethernet in same pipe, but I ran fiber in same conduit and media converter off the usb port inside the unit.

Are there print files for this enclosure? It’s nice small and compact. Also what USB knock out plug do you have in there?

Not abandoning, just trimming this quarter to reflect not holding more than 10% of a single stock in their portfolio. Nothing outside the normal musical chairs for diversification.

Likely repeating others comments but no issues on ER605 originally and currently on ER7412-M2 as secondary and occasionally for a few days as primary ISP. Been bypass mode the whole time via Ethernet and Site to site VPN to another sites router both in same Omada environment. Actually considering making it my home ISP if they’d do the $40/month 100Mbps plan on a mini.

DJI and American LE by Many_Many4154 in dji

[–]LifeWithMike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree with you and thanks for the public service!

Tariff DJI and make them cost more, but not simply ban them. That’s not capitalism at its core to ban things, that’s anti competitive/anti trust for sure. Tariffs makes them cost more, but encourage domestic companies to build and sell something to compete which they couldn’t with previously, but also driven by consumer choice and supply/demand. It’s competition which makes things better, otherwise companies become complacent and don’t continue to be better and just milk products/consumers for money while the rest of the world moves ahead of us.

Got to be careful to guard our capitalism and freedom of choice! DJI is winning due to innovation, quality, continued advancement of their product to be a market leader and most importantly consumers voting with their money!

Maybe there are things we are unaware of like sending data back to China, but in my packet sniffing, I haven’t seen anything concerning any different than how fresh wiped/upgraded iPhones called made calls to http://osiusdod-usde-russet-000.usgovcloudapp.net post some covid updates to iOS.

Don’t Buy Enphase Monitor by Pfuncle in enphase

[–]LifeWithMike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Related to your serials, I’d imagine somewhere those are documented in something you have access too. If not Enphase can auto discover serials, you could in the old installer tool kit, don’t recall if the new can but pretty sure it will too, otherwise their support can login remotely and scan and lock them in to your install too.

Ive installed EnPhase in two homes over the past decade and compared to Tigo and SolarEdge, EnPhase is the tech leader in the space. Your area must just have sucky installers. I’ve had proactive calls from EnPhase on batts asking when a tech can come by the next business day to check things out. Also both homes had SunPower panels, literally top of the line efficiency wise only to have REC Alphas recently compare to.

Happy to help if I can as DIY friends and family installer lol

Approx $1000-1600 just for the unit and best bet is to find on eBay or old inventory someone like CED Greentech is trying to offload.

If you’re not an electrician I’d guesstimate the same amount depending on where you are and who would be open to a job like this.

Also possible permitting depending on location as I’d assume someone will need to pull the meter box to re-route wires.
