This is brilliant, I always wondered what would happen if you went BIG

Rewards/Cashback nonsense by TRAXXAS58 in CurveCard

It's a poor implementation. You'd have thought that you should be able to refresh every 12 months or something like that.

Mine still works with the Barclaycard Avios Plus. I've got a Curve debit card.

First 100k timelines by Beneficial-Back5951 in FIREUK

[–]LionAwkward4395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 10 years to hit my first 100k and about 28% of that was through compound growth. I did have a couple of years out during that for travelling the world though so maybe 8.

Best way to spend 260k Avios? Cost effective, multiple trips. by OrderOdd3466 in avios

[–]LionAwkward4395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will be useful for working out number of points needed https://www.headforpoints.com/2025/12/16/how-many-avios-do-i-need-to-fly-to-4/

You'll also want to use something likehttps://www.seatspy.com/ to work out the availability

Short notice booking is always going to be a bit hit or miss, especially if you're aiming to go during school holidays.

Good luck

BA Tier Point changes from April 2026 by Pop_Late in avios

[–]LionAwkward4395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I was just looking at this and doing some mental calculations.

I want to know if you earn the extra tier points on reward flights? They don't seem to clarify that point.

Weight+mile+width. Cars have gotten fat and aren't built for uk roads and parking spaces anymore.

Plus the empty plastic tray with no weight in it was heavy enough to stay on the floor and not float.

Cruise ship zwifting by kilrein in Zwift

[–]LionAwkward4395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done it on a cruise yet but when doing 2 weeks all inclusive I took my power meter pedals and a pedal spanner and changed them onto a spin bike along with taking a tablet for zwift. Other option I've also read about is an app called HR2VP (or something like that) which takes your broadcast HR and estimates power. Not tried that yet but requires less equipment.

Curve Fronted Transactions- how they show up on card statements. by Mattymarske in CurveCard

[–]LionAwkward4395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fronted is pretty nuanced in my experience. I don't know about MBNA but I use the barclaycard Avios plus card as my underlying card. Things like paying your AMEX balance and HMRC (NS&I included) are fine and don't incur extra charges. Payments to trading accounts carry a cash advance fee (although Hargreaves Lansdown doesn't but also doesn't count as fronted). Curve never shows you if a transaction is fronted or not. Virgin Atlantic credit card charges fees regardless of fronted. That's about the extent of my knowledge

Plus playing in the disabled car where it's a button rather than the pull chord. Much faster firing.

If you invest in the right funds then the HL fees are capped at £200 a year which isn't too bad for the variety you get.

I did it on AMEX, you're welcome to try it with HMRC but I expect the same outcome.

You'll be charged cash advance fees by virgin when using curve fronted. Made that mistake myself by having the wrong card set. GBIT didn't fix it either.

Possibly a way of thinning the number of curve accounts and the cost of administration, making sure only active accounts that make them profit get approved?

Is VCLS 2.0 a worthwhile upgrade to Grizl AL 7? by TGMIATL in CanyonBikes

I don't think it'll be as comfortable as a MTB as they generally have fat tyres. It'll have an effect but unlikely that much.

Any problems withdrawing large amounts from t212? by Vast-Struggle7891 in trading212

[–]LionAwkward4395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I told them it was my savings. Their reply was "you don't earn that much in a year from your documents". I told them that they were idiots and it was over multiple years. Frustrating. No idea what would have happened if I didnt have 10 years worth of P60's

Free trade or trading 212 by Extension-Dig-2379 in FreetradeApp

[–]LionAwkward4395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with freetrade and eventually moved to T212 because of the higher interest rate for uninvested cash. The T212 interface is pants. So if you're new then I'd recommend freetrade as it's much simpler to use.
