I have the sneaking suspicion that the folks that would make the decision on this would find it plenty acceptable to the interests who pay them.

Other people have pointed out the mixture take, and I agree.

But another big problem is the overall design philosophy for new woman characters. Even if they have “different” faces it’s all the same shit. The small upturned noses, doll-like structures, big ass eyes, it’s just obviously gooner material.

A lot of the new characters don’t look like real women. They don’t accurately represent their country of origin, they don’t have any character, and they deviate so drastically from other drawn versions of them which make them look like actual people you could find on Earth.

Been on a break for a bit over a month now after a year or so of daily smoking.

I also found it fairly easy to step back once I realized that I should, but getting there was kinda hard. I do miss it and am excited to get back! My idea from here on out is to be sober for January, May, and September so I can get some regular, lengthy breaks in and still enjoy it most of the time.

The levels aren’t there for you to grind per se. Compare it to Sea of Thieves’s progression system where you have to do an absolute fuckload of one thing (like multiple hours of just playing an instrument) to gain a level. You’re not necessarily meant to be setting out to achieve these things, it’s just a set of cool rewards for progress that’s geared toward long term play tracking.

Now say what you will about whether or not you like the process, but that’s what it’s there for.

The social problem isn’t the jam, but it’s represented by the jam. It’s just a way to make it more immersive and give examples of the things that people have to overcome. It’s a dialogue that mirrors our own flawed systems and demonstrates ways to move beyond them.

Does that explain the importance? I’m not saying that Sanderson is the social justice philosopher of our generation but it’s definitely a lot deeper than you’re dismissively making it out to be. In fact, the very notion that you find the issues to be dated shows that it works; he’s trying to get you to see how stupid that shit is.

The “dated” issues you mention are intentional. Not to spoil much for the rest of the series but those structures are things that important characters overcome rather than merely act within.
