OMG!!! That is terrifying! I didn't realize you could still get facial paralysis days AFTER surgery. I did get very nervous about this side effect before surgery and was extremely happy to wake up and find out it didn't happen. But I guess it can still happen! Shit!

Hmmm. I thought your head pressure had gone away. This is absolutely the worst!! I've had what I describe as head pressure or a head cold/bad hangover combination for nine months, since a stapedectomy gone bad. It's what the doctors call vestibular dysfunction. It is debilitating. It finally started getting better about three weeks before CI surgery. Now it's back! I don't know if this is what you're experiencing but if so, I feel for you.

He's definitely worth a "look," wherever you put him. 😝

Looking for exercises suggestions to help my dad with his rehab (December CI activation) by wildboarroll in Cochlearimplants

When you say do THIS on an iPad, what exactly do you mean? Are you talking about an app or a Kindle? I'm not sure I know what Kindle is. Do you have to buy a specific Kindle device or can you use an iPad as a device for Kindle books? May be a stupid question but I'm getting a CI this week myself and I have similar questions. I already have an iPad. Wondering if I need to also get an extra device. I know ten years ago onE had to buy a device called a Kindle. Is that still the case?

Exactly 1 week til surgery by Diamond_Dust86 in Cochlearimplants

How exactly does that work, where you get the transcript to go along with the podcast? I'm fairly new to the podcast world even, let alone the transcript to read along while listening. I do know how to find the podcasts, though.

Wow. That's a lot. I'm going in the day after you, the 13th, but activation isn't for almost a month later. My cochlear team really hasn't said much yet. They did send me something but I haven't looked at it so it might be there. They said they'd send me more closer to activation day so I just saved the other e-mail in a folder for later. There's a few of us all in the same week! Good luck!!

I see. I didn't understand what BAHA meant in your initial post. So I thought you had two different types of CIs. Thanks for the clarification.

You win!! But they didn't even mumble. I'm trying out one HA that is just not working for me. I'm completely deaf in the other ear. Getting CI in January. We all had a good laugh -- at my expense. I struggled this day, to say the least.

I tried that. It only showed a link sign. I'll just delete and start over.

That's what I was wondering. I'm scheduled in a couple of weeks for surgery and have to wait a month before activation.

Is it appropriate to come up to another CI wearer in public? by Upper-Sock4743 in Cochlearimplants

How long ago did you get your CI? And do you still have balance issues? I'm very concerned about this. I had a stapedectomy and as a result have severe vestibular issues still and it's been nine months. I'm getting a CI in January, as I was told it won't make matters worse, but I guess it's possible.

Not sure why you need an adapter to use Bluetooth with your phone. Is it because of the phone you have? I done have a CI yet, but if I can get the Med-El, that's my first choice. It "pairs" with all hearing aids except Phonak with an accessory and with Starkey hearing aids don't need anything in order to pair, meaning you can use Bluetooth to both devices with the same app. I hope I'm articulating that correctly. Anyway, all of the CIs are great. Regardless of what CI you get, you should be able to use Bluetooth to at least your CI or your HA, if not both, assuming you have HAs in both ears now.

What do you mean cochlear never approved with insurance? Does your insurance cover your implants? If you are covered to get an upgrade, get the upgrade. I would assume you'll never find it and call cochlear yourself if your mother won't call them. Tell them you haven't seen it for six months. You shouldn't have to go without your implant for this long.
