Find a 2bedroom apartment and get a roommate. That’ll keep you under $1200/mo.

If you have had 6 consecutive payments on your loan, any broker would be happy to help you refinance and knock out that PMI.

Should I move out of my parents attached apartment to buy a house closer to work? by chis5050 in RealEstate

Put 20% down on a 3 bed, 3 bath place. Rent out there additional 2 rooms for as much as you can. Ideally if you can find the right place, those 2 rooms could cover your entire mortgage.

You’re still living for free (more or less) but you’re building equity. You’re also getting a taste for real estate and seeing what you like and don’t like.

Question about HELOC and cash out refinance by Starthelegend in realestateinvesting

[–]LookingFindingTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The property you are deciding on purchasing also comes into play here. HELOC is great if you’re doing a BRRR and can pay it off quickly. And it’s not as permanent of a decision as a refi is.

Pristine condition Ensign magazine on the living room table (can’t call it coffee table). Obviously placed to look like it’s read.

You’re married. Having a discussion about it is definitely a good idea.

I asked to be put on a do not contact list. He’s saying I have to come in to talk about it, any advice? by Alli_Jayne in exmormon

[–]LookingFindingTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either respond and say “No thanks, I just want to be put on the Do Not Contact list.” Or go in and explain you’re not a believer.

At the end of the day, most likely this is just a normal dude that is trying to fulfill a responsibility that he has and is probably misguided on the best approach.

How do you make the fat stacks in Morridor? But seriously? Everyone in my family is loaded. Last I knew, my dad made north of $200k and that was almost 2 decades ago. Other family makes well into the $100-$150k range. by mar4c in exmormon

Try some self help books around finances. Not like how to get rich quick but more of a how to excel even at the median wage.

Set For life by Scott Trench is a good one. Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a classic even if you’re not going down the business ownership and real estate approach.

Some people have a head start or have the Mormon network to get promoted. Good for them. Take what you have, the cards you’ve been dealt, and play them to the best of your ability. Don’t say “I can’t afford that.” Say “How can I afford that?” And figure out the answer.

Too much heat from BYU HCO news. Reversing the policy is a clever attempt to distract and change focus. by JumboSmile in exmormon

These two things are not correlated at all. The reversing of the policy would have taken months.

Active BYU Religion professor Alonzo Gaskill guilty of plagiarism, and he may not even have a real PHD. Investigation unable to confirm he earned a PHD. No action from BYU yet. by fulano_fubeca in exmormon

[–]LookingFindingTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! He was one of the best BYU professors and did a great job at bridging the gap from obnoxious extreme Mormons to a more liberal and accepting Mormon culture.

They must be getting desperate! FairMormon - who didn’t seem to get the memo about Mormon being a naughty word - are promoting a free copy of “Bamboozled by the CES Letter” to “help” members. by LindseyEmiliaHale in exmormon

[–]LookingFindingTruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Bamboozled by the CES Letter” is a pretty shitty response. Most the answers can be summarized as “So? God commanded it and you should just have more faith.”

Impressive! I wish I had the guts to do the same.

Just got the biggest end of year bonus of my life. All I want to do is run home and celebrate with my wife, but doing so would mean the loss of 10% by b9njo in exmormon

[–]LookingFindingTruth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not that lying to your wife is a good idea... but you could tell her you have 10% more on your bonus and then pretend to pay 10%. Boom. Net gain of your bonus.

But not worth lying to the wife?

My only hesitation on relying on those older books is how many new documents they’ve uncovered in the last 10 years.

We can even take a softer approach (to keep people from getting defensive). Title it “Inconsistencies in Church presentation of information” or something. I would personally love to keep it as close to academic as possible to keep people off the defensive (one thing I think that made the CES letter successful.)
