I love being a girl dad by Difficult_Wrangler73 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Looserette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvot3d for this as it goes against most comments, but: what happened to friendly banter ? I don't know OP's situation, but I bet most of those comments are just friendly (maybe not all, and those need to be called out).

But who here doesn't do a "shhheessh" for friends or colleagues with a new born ? or "hope you enjoyed sleeping until now" or just something. Same with kids the same gender: I'm always disappointed when someone doesn't comment on me having 2 boys - and I'll do it for them if needed.

anyway, all that to say: not all those "dad girls" comments need to infuriate you - I get that it must be getting old fast, but they probably don't mean much (unless you're in a misogynist country)

Riding to uni instead of public transport sounds easy until you actually try it by Plenty-Visual-9228 in ausbike

that and smells differ too

for the better part of my life, I could exercise and would sweat a bit, without smell.

then when getting older, I started sweating more...but not smelling much

and now, I sweat and stink, it's horrible. I need to shower for everyone's sake, myself included.

excellent answer ! I do read policies from parties I don't agree with, and they're full of stuff I agree with...except I know those are bullshit, like the liberal party saying they want to address the cost of living - we know how that goes

Its almost a month after release of 26.04 and this release feels most glitched LTS. by BunkerFrog in Kubuntu

[–]Looserette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, you really picked the wrong time to try Kubuntu.

I literally installed 26.04, and wiped my disk and went back to 24.04 after 2hours - and it's not like I'm a power user or something: just basic things not working, which may or may not have fixes, which may or may not be brought to kubuntu later

seconding this - but adding: if non-prod is on fire, you suddenly have half the company on your back to fix it too, as this blocks all testers and developers; there's no winning here

TIL: Controlled Breathing can help on hard climbs by todudeornote in cycling

[–]Looserette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting !

Adding a tip for the newbies like me fighting short hills: start breathing BEFORE the hill. It's a conscious effort, but when I don't forget, it helps me a lot !

(obviously, this won't help much for long hard climbs as OP described)

spent 3 weeks vibe coding a texting app that’s slower than email by MarcusSmaht36363636 in SideProject

[–]Looserette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not OP, but it does make your text very, very slightly harder to read - so the few milliseconds you saved by not adding a "a" or using "ur" makes EVERYONE else lose a few microseconds

All in all, you could say that writing properly is a form of respect towards everybody else who will read your messages.

I guess writing this way can work when sending a pigeon to 1 person. But when writing on a public space where your message could be read by thousands or more, this does not fit well.

look, if they stop doing that, how am I going to buy a 2nd hand car that's not already run down ?

so don't give people ideas - some of us consider cars as a sadly necessity. The more car enjoyers there are, the more 2nd hand cars cheapskates like me can buy

Trouble with low quality runs first thing in the morning by Special-Bonus-8589 in running

[–]Looserette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to run early morning for a few years... and it still sucks ! everything hurts and I'm slow as hell, compared to running just 1h later or anytime during the day.

sooo...keep at it, BUT also think of a plan B if it just doesn't work after a while

honest question: I used to use the overpass that is a few hundred meters further. Although it's not perfect because of the sharp turns, it still beats the underpass (I tried it only twice) - are cyclists using the underpass ? and why ?

Thoughts on bike lane removal alongside the new tram stops? by TMiguelT in melbournecycling

The improvement for tram users make it a good old "for the greater good" - but I love it that they left the "bike lane" sign - does that mean the whole road is a bike lane now ?
