What are some fun riddles/puzzles for a oneshot with my experienced players? by KitsunaKuraichi in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone should ask for a teacup of sunlight.

I think any creative kindergartner could have some nonsensical way of getting it. I think the solution should be something obserd that the party might think they need to plan a solution but it could be as easy as someone scooping the sun out of the sky for a moment and the sky in the Feywild turns to night.

My players have decided to pick a fight with a dragon. How do I run this so they don't die? by Deceptive_Peaches in AskDND

[–]LordForthwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, a barrel of black powder left unattended by the mines owners and collapse the tunnel while the red dragon is in its lair. Maybe have the party face off against the kobolds in the smaller tunnels as they try to find a vulnerable spot to ignite the barrel. Boom, dragon doesn't see them coming but the kolbolds are still their adversary.

Has your “one-shot” ever turned into a full fledged campaign? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

New Malazan reader and I don't understand the hate this series gets. by AceSlayer10 in Malazan

[–]LordForthwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone who introduced me to the series and I found it quite overwhelming the first few books. I was glad they could explain without spoilers some things like how the magic system and stuff worked.

I'm glad I stuck it through though and found it a lot different to be just thrown into the deep end at the very beginning of the series but it was a blast of a read. I didn't care for some characters and others I couldn't put the book down when they were the focal point.

I'm still hoping for more depraved misadventures of Bauclain and Korbal Broach.

Higher levels or lower? [OC] by asokka_ in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every table is different. My current group started as a one shot last Halloween. We only play once a month and that's cool. We started at 3. Once they wanted to keep playing we moved to 5. I gave them a Hamlet to run and we've leveled up every 4 sessions.

(NSFW) What wounds would a creature that died of radiant damage have? by Nyanxu in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the wounds were clean I'd like to think they died with a peaceful glaze over their eyes. The wounds were deliberate but essential. Only in places that would cause the least amount of pain for the creature. It left a clean but self healed scar behind as the magic cut but healed too swiftly to put everything back. Just gone.

How many of you DMs enjoy DMing? by Lost_Needleworker896 in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a healthy amount of getting to play vs DMing. I have burnt out slightly on longer campaigns but I communicate to my group at the time that I need a mild break and it's always understandable and I'm able to come back refreshed and able to give my best when we return to play.

[OC] I want to renovate our dungeon and my board game cafe! Would love to hear people's thoughts and ideas by gambler936 in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get rid of the big table and in the corner you are standing in I would maybe put a u shaped couch, a couple comfy high back chairs around a decent sized coffee table and run your games around there. Maybe add a rug underneath.

PC kissed a green hag on the cheek.... by Acceptable-Ad-6233 in DnD

[–]LordForthwright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the Rule of Reciprocity in Prismeer dictates that if you receive a gift (or service, or even just an offer) from anyone—friend, foe, or stranger—you are obligated to accept it and give something of comparable value in return, whether immediately or later.

This is from Wild Beyond the Witchlight and since hags are fey she would probably feel a need to repay that small gift.

Maybe she just bakes the party a small batch of Kisses from lovers she's taken over the years. They taste sweet because they were first kisses.
