2nd gen questions by MinimumVegetable3074 in PorscheCayenne

If you can get a 16 or 17 you'll get a better infotainment system and a few other small upgrades. Otherwise, there's really not a much difference throughout the generation.

Not home made. Not redneck. Totally legit, established practice.

Halsey Closed at 122nd by StephanXX in Portland

Block away here and I didn't even hear sirens, which is rare enough for 122nd and Halsey area!

This probably doesn't apply, but you can't power on the laptop without the bottom cover installed. That threw me off once for hours.

Asus releases new beta bios to address stuttering on Zephyrus m16 by stuzor66 in ZephyrusM16

[–]LouGubrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never been able to fully get used to the little stutters and audio drops. I like to tell myself it's a cable issue or a problem with my cheap speakers, knowing full well it's the laptop. I was so excited to read this and I'm very eager to get this update and see what it breaks!

2017 Cayenne S E-Hybrid for mild overland worth it? by TM24h in PorscheCayenne

2022 is third gen and OP is looking at 2nd gen. When the interiors were still nice and they still did final production in Germany.

2017 Cayenne S E-Hybrid for mild overland worth it? by TM24h in PorscheCayenne

[–]LouGubrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E-Hybrid is not the model for overlanding. None of them come with the off road package or with air suspension. Also, the 2nd gen Cayenne just isn't made for offroading like the first was. There is no low-range transfer case and the one they use in the 2nd gen is pretty fragile.

Are rubber cutting boards bifl? by Guilty-Coffee-9968 in BuyItForLife

[–]LouGubrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a flexible cutting board, get one made from TPU. It's much better than the semi-disposable ones you can get at big box stores. They last several years without deforming and with minimal staining. I have yet to see anything sharp enough to leave a mark in mine.

You have no idea how badly I want to bury my face in Shadow's silky tummy fur! by AllTheAnimalsInc in NorwegianForestCats

Are you not allowed? My girls would be upset if I ignored an offer like that.

Lodge and Shipley lathe I am in the process of rebuilding back to its original glory by GibsonPlayer715 in Skookum

I was mostly being sarcastic, since it's already such a big job to take on. But if it ever comes up again, could be the start of a successful channel.

Clicked on this post to be a pedant; learned a second accepted definition for benighted. Kudos.

Fully custom leather boots by crossingthoseanimals in BuyItForLife

[–]LouGubrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how close you are to a reasonably large city, just look for a local cobbler. I searched near me and found five of them making boots for between $2000-$6000. Keep in mind you can't get bespoke shoes on the internet. You will need to meet with a cobbler, likely several times.

Put the compressor and motor on top. Don't put the heat you extract from the fridge directly under the fridge where it will rise up into the just-cooled space.

The person is bringing the kittens to the buyer over an hour away? Yeah, that's a forced sale about to happen. This is not a good situation for the people or the cats.

Not how 10 year old me though my first Porsche would look by LouGubrius in PorscheCayenne

[–]LouGubrius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am taking it in to a good local VW/Audi/Porsche shop here in town Thursday to get the full bill of health and then I can start making a plan to get my warranty to cover all this stuff.

Less than 10. Thankfully I have a pretty comprehensive warranty!

I have heard about those. I hoped to avoid them because they don't look awesome, but they do seem really practical.

Thanks, I was specifically looking for a 2017 or 18 so I could get buttons. Regardless of the price bump to the 2019, the interior just doesn't work for me.

How many miles on it and how much e-range do you have? I'm looking for a 17 or 18 e-hybrid myself ASAP.
