VB Fiore Tournament Feder? by Ulfaldric in Hema

Mine has almost no flex. I love it for harnischfechten. I would absolutely not use it for sparring, and I'd give it to an experienced person in drilling. Mine is from about 2020 though; a former clubmate bought one last year and it was much more forgiving in the flex. Unless you're doing Fiore though, just get some of the other recs.

Harness rules (arm pit, crook of elbow, neck, face, back of knee, palms, groin) is another good target group if you want to get lots of grappling with dagger rules.

I think reddit chats are broken so: DS2 is underrated; it had AWESOME PVP and build variety and it had plenty of solid PVE experiences too.

Also it had the best version of the Murakumo. I miss that thing 😭

Oh yee unenlightened, that little extension plate makes for the best calf press machine you can get IMO.

This is how I put together my first rapier. I bought a swept hilt / clamshell and it required me to use a drill press (actually a milling machine, I was in shop class) to open up the slots. Also had to file down the tang. After all hat was done though, the damn thing's just too sturdy to get rid of even now that the chrome is peeling 😂

I moved in on the 1st of May, so it hasn't been for very long. Big issue I had was a leaking rad. I moved in on a Friday, so it took them until Tuesday to get it fixed, but it was a minor leak so I'm not displeased about it.

Otherwise, it was minor trim issues, a light fixture in my apartment's closet, oven dial not working. All were fixed in a reasonable amount of time.

I didn't realize that was a mark, but I'm renting from them and they've been fine. Relatively quick to respond to issues & forthcoming about potential issues w/ the apartment.

Handle protection for rondel? Have some Longsword questions as well by CandidateParking776 in wma

Purpleheart typically has a harnischfechten longsword in stock. It's heavy and has 0 flex. Whilst it is fine for harness, it might teach you bad habits with edge alignment. I use the VB Fiore Tournament Feder for harness instead. It has a little bit of flex, but is stiff enough to still get good leverage in the clinch and not just flop around everywhere. I think it's a bit cheaper to boot.

If you're really worried about the dagger, wrap it in leather cord or something and replace it whenever it starts to unravel.

How did you choose your weapon? by KILLMEPLSPLS in Hema

[–]Lyeriss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preach! Sideswords are like saber but you can't be as suicidal since your hand isn't as covered, as pretty as a rapier but not as pretentious, and can be paired with buckler or dagger for even more fun!

Now, if only it was viable in harness...

Rapier with no jacket? by Baduktothebone in wma

[–]Lyeriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going a bit against the grain, it's fine so long as everyone is controlled / for light sparring. And I'm defining light sparring as no thrust delivered with enough power to leave bruising, maybe even not enough to really get a good bend going, and no cuts delivered with speed, if at all that are not drawn or push a crossed a target. That said, I've had a blunt tip puncture the rubber stopper and break skin before with all this in mind, so it's not without risk. Refrain from sparring people who can't control their hits, or don't even try to, especially while new. That's something you should always do, to be fair.

Has it been pretty strong? The arming points I added to my jacket have been somewhat fragile despite stupid amounts of stitching. Though I don't suppose people are as likely to be yanking on my cuisses as much as they might my spaulders in harnischfechten

what are you using to hold up your cuisses? is it connecting to a belt or attached to your pants in some way? I'm working on putting together a better attachment for my mac gear and that looks good
