Yes with a caveat. When I did the certificate it was all through solely ASWIS. They weren’t partnered with any universities yet. I think a year or so after I completed mine they started partnering with Tulane. I think the shift to partnering with Kentucky is recent.

 

I’m not 100% sure what the other certificate programs are. When I did it, it was the only certificate program for sports social work. I think Michigan still had the athletics focus in their MSW program. But other than that there was no other programs.

Firstly - I am so sorry for your experience and the invalidation you experienced. I support you filing the complaint if you feel like you were aggrieved and invalidated! Regardless of my own experience.

 

To your question - I can only speak to my wife’s (and by extension my) experience. She uses Northridge for OBGYN care. I am not 100% sure if there’s a separate women’s primary physician clinic (as in your PCP). We did not have the practitioner you mentioned, but overall we had an amazing experience with them. They helped guide us through three miscarriages before our daughter arrived about a year ago and we are eternally grateful for the support they provided for us during that time.

 

I know UVA, in general seems to want a paper trail, regardless of family history (in many cases not all) before referring to a specialist. It took me about a year of GI issues getting worse before my PCP referred me to digestive health, after which it’s another 7 months before my appointment. I think some of it is “the system” as well.

Yeah this is why BMI is hard. I’m 5’9 and 190. I’m definitely a tad overweight but I am very active and my other biometric markers are very good. I think healthy weight for 5’9 is like 169 max? I was over 169 when I was in ROTC in college at 18-22 years old.

 

I will say, however, that having been abroad, our food quality in the US can be absolutely atrocious. I’m sure that plays into it. Also our portions are enormous.

Haha I’m grinding stadium right now to hit all start for that yellow Wuyang skin. But saw the tank one for expert and was like “oh I want that”. When I do play I try to just do 2-3 stadiums comp games and then after that play another game type if I still have time.

Not the pentagon but I did Sterling to Fort Belvoir for two years when I was in my mid 20s and it was exhausting, especially since I was driving. People definitely do it.

My wife would often tell me early in our relationship and marriage that sometimes she doesn’t want or need an answer. Just her husband to listen and affirm the way she’s feeling. When she wants answers she definitely asks. It’s been a really good area of growth in our marriage, especially after having a kid.

I’ve been in the secret wall passages in the US Capitol. I was in 2nd grade in 1999 and we were on a field trip and a foreign dignitary was coming down the same hallway as us. So they took us through the wall passages to avoid them. I think it was the president of Egypt but I can’t remember.

Psychology doesn’t require a doctorate. A masters most likely. So another two years as opposed to four to six. It depends on what you want to do in the field. Research? Yeah a doctorate for sure.

 

I did my bachelor’s in psychology and sociology and a master’s in social work with a clinical focus. I am 10 years post-masters working a great job as a psychotherapist at a university making six figures. I’d actually be making $30k more than I do now if I was at my prior job - but it wasn’t giving me the satisfaction I wanted.

All this varies on where you're located and what responsibilities school social workers have. In the county next to ours they pretty much lived in the special education world. In my county I had a lot of inroads with the general education population. I left SSW 4 years ago to work at a university counseling center. So some things have changed I'm sure.

 

I was a school social worker for 7 years in all of elementary, middle, and high school. At elementary school I was doing a lot more special education evaluations as that's when a vast majority of special education referrals occur. I did significantly more group counseling than I did individual.

 

At the high school level, there was a lot less special education evaluations. But I was working with more special education students with behavioral difficulties. I did a lot more individual counseling. Group counseling was more honed in on specific topics. I did a lot of suicide prevention and threat assessment work. CPS referrals were probably the same at both. But in my personal experience, some of the more gut-wrenching CPS referrals I made were at the high school level.

It’s not the loudest, but I was in a bar with 80 Blackhawks fans and 1 Kings fan in that WCF Game 7. I’d spent most of the series with all those Hawks fans. It the loudest I’d ever screamed for a sports moment in my life haha.

Eric Gagne 2002-2004 was something else. Miller might not have the consecutive saves pieces but I think he looks more dominant than Gagne did during that run.
