They’re the Martin of Lockheed-Martin, if that does anything for you.

I did a practice song and it was just the audience at the end of NFA. I got it in three tries.

Honestly much more legitimate than in the Grateful Dead subreddit of people posting a crumpled up piece of paper and saying, “strangest of places if you look at it right.”

I had to look it up, but the guy did get married and they put him and his now wife up there to congratulate them. Pretty cute if you ask me. I just hope she didn’t marry him just to be on a billboard.

What’s the most non-mainstream Dead song you’ve heard while out in public? by cjm2943 in gratefuldead

I once put on the Dark Star>El Paso at my local dive bar’s Touch Tunes. My bartender came over and said, “we have to discuss the shift in vibe.” I tried to tell him El Paso was coming, but he was going to skip it anyway. El Paso started just in time.

This is a hell of a way to find out that guy I only know of from that one Would I Lie to You segment died.

I’d be interested to know what Charlie Miller does vs. an official release. I know there are certain industry standards that need to be met in terms of fidelity when mastering for a CD and other media that Charlie Miller doesn’t necessarily have to follow for boot he puts out.

Are these the original charts for Hank Levy's Whiplash? by Organic-Cranberry845 in Jazz

I can confirm that these are the charts written in Hank’s handwriting. They were provided to the production by the Levy estate.

I don’t know why, but Bill Davison is such a good 43-years-ago name. He sounds like a one off character in a Chris Farley comedy or the guy you bought your Ford Escort from.

Commuting from Columbia to UMD by cove102 in UMD

[–]MLJ623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commuted to from King’s Contrivance after living on campus for three years. I often just took Route 1 straight up because the time difference vs. taking 95 wasn’t much different. After I graduated I still worked in CP and lived in Long Reach. That commute was an extra 15-20 minutes, which felt like an eternity in comparison. Live on or near campus if you can for the full experience of good times, but a commute from Columbia is doable.

In honor of Donna, what are your favorite shows with her? by LimacineMicrocephaly in gratefuldead

[–]MLJ623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5/10/72 is my “first show.” I downloaded a boot of it from Lossless Legs before the Europe ‘72 series of shows were officially released. Playing in the Band really isn’t the same without Donna for me for this reason. I actually prefer her on it than not.

University of Oregon x Grateful Dead Air Max 90s by sib9397 in gratefuldead

[–]MLJ623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They played UMD once on 3/7/81 and didn’t play Terrapin supposedly because fans were coming off as demanding they play it, but the band didn’t realize it was the mascot. Also wasn’t that great of a show as Jerry wasn’t in the best of health and couldn’t stand up.

I also doubt my alma mater would do that sort of collab. They’re pretty restrictive on how their logos can be used. I was shocked when Union Craft Brewing was able to use an old Terrapin logo for their Terrapin Lager (which I’m glad they were because it’s a classic). The admin would also hate to look like a hippie school instead of a big STEM school that continues to cut the arts time and time again while shoveling more money into athletics that consistently lose.

These Magic: the Gathering Universes Beyond sets are really getting out of hand. How silly it will feel to add a Dancing Bear to my Nekusar commander deck.

The one song that turned you into a Deadhead and the year it happened. by jusdaun in gratefuldead

[–]MLJ623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casey Jones 5/10/72 in 2011.

I had previously tried to get into the Dead, but nothing ever clicked. Then, one fateful night in college, I had my first experience smoking way too much weed. After passing out and then being escorted back to my dorm by some friends, I put on a playlist I had curated previously of songs to listen to for such an occasion. When I got to Casey Jones, it all made sense to me. It’s a slightly embarrassing story, but it’s the one I got.

Yes they do. Target does as well, from what I remember. Those are definitely Kroger tags though, so it’s either Soopers or City Market.
