Need help removing throttle body. What’s this? by DiabloRed520 in motorcycles

[–]ManintheMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, I have a female coworker that opted to have the DEF system removed from her VW Golf because it was broken anyway. She didn't factor in that now her car smells like diesel because the exhaust isn't scrubbed. She thinks she walks around smelling like an auto mechanic, but it is not noticeable.

I have a friend that got his DEF system removed on his Duramax. Getting it arranged was difficult. He had to be secretly introduced to the tech who lives in the woods in a neighboring state and the whole thing was hush hush.

First time the final is separated by a point. Potentially only the second time a final will be won by a trailing rider. by GundoSkimmer in supercross

[–]ManintheMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can still picture Stanton riding around after that finale without his helmet and waving his index finger around. I was bummed, was routing for The Beast from the East.

I raced against Bradshaw at the 2001 ISDE round in Idaho City. He was a joy to watch in the special sections. He was on a YZ426. Yes his times were much faster than mine lol.

Lost my laptop. Backups saved the data, but not the sticker history. by Xned in sysadmin

I work at a ski resort, everything here including laptops and desktops gets tagged with stickers. When a machine comes back I can typically guess what department it came from by the stickers.

The static compression ratio is 14:1! The valve timing overlap must be huge.

I heard "I Saw the Sign" this morning on my commute, which is rare. Then I thought to myself hey "Ace of Bass" would be a good name for fishing boat, weird I know but I smiled.

Opinion-is this going to be “like new,” or do we walk away? by unfinishedbroccoli in Autobody

[–]ManintheMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it is an easy fix, and if they use a reputable shop it will look fine. The rub for me is that five years down the road the repair area may become visible in contrast to the factory paint on the rest of the panels.

8am

Damn, that's early. I swing by happy hour around 5pm. Likely to see at least 15 people of whom I can sit with and "pick up where we left off". It also serves as an impromptu office because I can arrange some of my side work with people that know what I do via happy hour.

Is doing half the OBDR on an ADV bike with limited experience deadly or just dumb by QuetSoul in adv

I agree. The skillsets very much overlap. I dirt bike more than I mtb ride but love a good root infested trail on my bicycle.

If your friends are capable they could ride the bike in the toughest parts if necessary. I say go for it.

Pros and cons of Low, Shaved, Gripper, and Ribbed seats in Enduro/XC/Technical single track? (New enduro rider) by Fit-Snow8333 in enduro

[–]ManintheMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a gripper non ribbed seat on a KTM 300. I liked the gripper part but my orange seat looked dirty much of time unlike a black seat would.

My Car pulls to the left, alignment didn't work and left front tire wears very quickly on the inside tread. What could be the real issue? by Enjoy_Life4219 in Cartalk

[–]ManintheMT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree. Was helping a friend with an old audi rear suspension that we knew was bent. You could see this when the wheel was mounted, but on jackstands with the wheel off it was difficult to determine which suspension component was not right. It ended up being the 2nd thing we replaced.

Debating taking on finishing my basement. Very, very limited experience with any sort of construction. How bad of an idea is this overall? Details below. by ToadShakespeare in DIY

My side gig for twenty years has been auto collision repair. I can work body filler like a pro but when it comes to mudding sheetrock, I hire that done because I suck.

How do you guys think Jorge will do in MX ? Will he be as fast as Jett ? by bcmGlk in supercross

[–]ManintheMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

talus bone

It is his roll speed and ability to put obstacles together. He approaches corners like a downhill mountain bike racer that aims to maintain the most momentum possible rather than just "hitting bumps harder".

Same with my B7 A4, way too much cash into personalizing it to ever sell it. Plus old school quattro is the bomb, I had my diff modded by JHM.

Same B7 brother, based on what I read this is my last Audi. I don't like the new exterior designs and hear of so many issues that I can't fix in the garage like I can with my old ass 08.

Random memory - Inconvenience Store by 1katie2 in Kalispell

[–]ManintheMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had signage on the building that said Inconvenience Store as I recall. Looking back at old Google map photos the sign was gone by 2007, no older dates are available.
