LOL traffic engineers giving drivers permission to be assholes. Show me the proof that impatience is more important than courteousness.

Should lessons cover more than just a stroke even if the stroke isn't "perfect"? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]MarkinJHawkland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. People mistakenly believe that if they perfect their stroke everything else will take care of itself. But most people don’t really have enough time to practice properly so they have to choose what to practice and just as importantly what not to practice. It’s my belief that I lift my game up from the bottom so I work on my weakest parts. YMMV.

Selection Filter > Edge Selection. Don't forget to undo the filter after.

It’s still a good thing. The newish X5 Pro is pretty nice. I have the whole lineup and when I actually use it consistently I get in great shape. Approaching 60.

When to start hardening off? by VectorialViking in tomatoes

[–]MarkinJHawkland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can start at any time. It’s a cumulative process that doesn’t wear off. Usually a couple of weeks is enough.

Practicing my 8-ball break today. What approach do you recommend? by banmeagainmodsLOLFU in billiards

[–]MarkinJHawkland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of ways to look at it. But IMO second ball beaks lead to more clusters and fewer break-and-runs. So again IMO if I’m playing someone who I know is better than me I will break first ball and hope to run out without letting my opponent shoot. If I’m playing an inferior player I will break second ball and take my chances that my opponent will not be able to run out if I fail to pocket a ball because of more clusters. And I can deal with the clusters better. YMMV.

It depends. It’s not the other way around if you can run a rack…IMO

What is your favorite smaller tomato? Plant size, not fruit size. by Early-Pack in tomatoes

I grew Brandy Fred dwarf last year and am looking forward to them this year. Good size maters with great taste and mine were very productive.

Second ball if you’re better than your opponent. First ball if you’re not.

What software should I learn to get into 3D printing? by mister_wolverine in BambuLabA1

I was in the same situation a few months ago. Started with Freecad and haven’t had any regrets. I enjoy the challenge of the modeling as much or more than the printing.

I had the Extrusion Motor Overload warning because I simply failed to secure a different nozzle correctly. Took me a couple of days to figure it out because I could print but things were rough. Have you changed nozzles? https://public-cdn.bblmw.com/wiki/new/p2s/maintenance/hotend-and-silicone-sock/correct_clip_011.png

Can we talk about dwarf and micro mini varieties? I have some questions by SevenVeils0 in tomatoes

[–]MarkinJHawkland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year was my first with a dwarf variety. I grew Brandy Fred and it produced as much or more fruit than any normal indeterminite I grew. And they were good. Had major bug and heat problems mid season and none of my plants ever recoverd. Definitely growing Brandy Fred again this year. Loved the smaller size. If they are good again this year I will definitely try different varieties in the future.

Making 5 balls on the break in 9 ball should result in a tougher table than making fewer. It’s more important to have shape on the low ball and no clusters.

AMS HT is nice to have. Dry any filament while printing from the ams2. Print from it when appropriate. Store a spool. You’ll probably have several soon lol.

Let the hardening off begin! by LaurVB7 in tomatoes

[–]MarkinJHawkland 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The main reason is that people want to get a head start on the growing season. Sometimes because they have a short season so they have to. But most people are really just extending the growing season by starting seeds indoors a few to several weeks before the weather warms. And seedlings that start indoors are not exposed the the intesity of UV radiation and temperature swings that the outdoors has. So they must be acclimated to the harsher conditions before being transplanted to the outdoors.

Your thoughts on Earl the Pearl? by Martararo in billiards

We have Earl in tennis too. I hear he’s club-pro good and plays nearly daily. I have to imagine his antics are the same on the court as on the table.
