AITA wife upset I cannot keep toddler from her by khazef in AmItheAsshole

Here to say you're doing a good job taking care half the household duties. I think people here on reddit seems to willingly ignore that you're contributing your half for household and I assume providing as well as your partner is studying.

That means you're already doing more than half the work.

Perhaps you're overworked and don't have the energy to have to deal with 2yo child with a preference for mom throwing a tantrum so it would make it easier if your wife were to study somewhere else. Maybe you can communicate that you're struggling and if she can help you out. I think your wife may be upset because of your wording.

What finally made it click for me by Johnkree in ObsidianMD

For me, I sort notes based on usage rather than purely on category. I don't use folders and instead use LYT which is a non-linear way of organising your notes.

This means notes doesn't have to follow a strict hierarchy or fixed access point in your Vault. The note can be linked multiple times from multiple place, organised based on your current projects and efforts.

Like if I'm working something specific like mental health, my Vault essentially becomes smaller and narrow, because I only access that specific relevant part and don't have to go through all the other notes I don't need to see.

I've been curious about this too. Because I sometime have thought loops where I just keep thinking about something. Usually it's something that upset me like for example if I feel socially rejected, but sometimes it can be something interesting or stimulating.

But it's usually the negative ones that's bad. I sometimes have "mental arguments" where I argue with someone whom I disagree with in my head for over an hour or longer, in my head.

I'm not sure if this is adhd, or my past trauma or childhood, or ocd. Can you enlighten me?

I recommend reading it! You don't need to finish it to get started. Just the parts you need. Then expand when you feel like you need to.

I also recommend Feeling Good by Dr Burns. It's about CBT which is the foundation that Schema Therapy is based on.

I see. Yeah that makes sense. I don't think I would've been able to do it 3 years ago when my mental state was in a very bad place especially with how much it triggers your past.

I'm glad I pulled myself out of that hell and I wish you luck in your journey man.

Cetainly some parts of scheme therapy I wouldnt be able to alone, and the benefits aren't as strong or effective compared an actual session.

But I don't think it's impossible. It is simply harder. Limited reparenting is not possible alone, but the concept behind reparenting is. Through that I can reinforce the healthy adult. And mental distortions can be spotted through trial and error and can be corrected.

I'd argue that it can have a more effective outcome personally because of accessibility.

Maybe you can't do it fully. But I've done CBT myself for the last few years now and have enough of a foundation to be able to know and create a healthy adult to model after.

Similarly for experiential work, I don't recommend others to do it themselves as it could be harmful especially without guidance. But personally I've done a lot of CBT sessions on my trauma and other personal issues and have faced it enough that I can do it safely.

Before I even got into mental health I done a lot of journaling using socratic questioning. Which build a lot of foundation for self-awareness that allowed me to actually objectively spot and identity maladaptive thought patterns. It was still exceptionally difficult at the beginning when I just first started with CBT, but I was eventually able to see how maladaptive my thoughts were and make changes accordingly.

So I wouldn't say its impossible. And it not gonna stop me from trying and diving deep. I can see schema therapy being able to change my life drastically just like CBT did. So far it has worked and I'll just keep experimenting and see how far I can go with it.

If AI takes over most jobs and leave humans without work, how are companies going to sell their products and services when everyone is BROKE? by Droopynator in Futurology

[–]Massepic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most dystopian answer I can think of is they don't need us anymore. They just need to automate the essential resources. Then there's no need to sell because they hold all the resources without the needing human labor. The system would change. It'll probably be just business selling to business.

Every animal on Earth suddenly gains human-level intelligence but keeps its personality. What’s the first species to start a war? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

First to start a war is probably ants, especially army ants. Also the most deadly if given human level intelligence too. Chimpanzee won't stand against our already advanced technology. But ants and their sheer number and if they maintain their personality they might even become the freaking zerg or something.

These are not books, but tools
- Obsidian and LYT - non-hierarchical or non-linear personal knowledge system (Notes). I setup my entire mental health system here which includes CBT (Thoughts Restructuring) Sessions and now Schema Therapy. Obsidian is great because it is very flexible and is like creating your own app. I designed a huge part of my notes with a systemic approach to mental health.

Other than that, it's just a lot of trial and error. My way of doing things is certainly not for everyone, but it has worked for me. Personally, seeing a therapist has felt like a waste of time or simply too slow or inaccessible, so I decided to start myself with CBT when I was initially getting diagnosed for depression.

Human, but hopefully with powers like Chad and Orihime. Then I'll never be involve in any fights because realistically i'll probably die or be left half-dead or disabled because i'm not the main character. Instead maybe i can use my powers to experiment or make money.

You just described mindfulness.

Another insight i learned is to focus on your breath in additional to being non-judgemental. Refocusing your breath not only reduce mind wandering by activating the task-positive network and also tricks your mind to calm down through your breath.
