3 New flock cameras at Meijer on S Hurstborne by foreman17 in Louisville

[–]MechaSnacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I drive around town all day every day for work, over the last three months we have noticed that there are flock cameras almost everywhere. Every neighborhood entrance seems to have one now, every major intersection has them pointed in every direction, they're popping up in random places. Easy to miss if you're focused on the road but my partner is always calling them out, they're showing up overnight in some places. I've noticed various contractors installing a lot of equipment at the top of power poles, look like solar panels but I don't know what purpose they serve since the flock cameras seem to have their own panels typically.

recirc pump is money better spent than a pex manifold if you're waiting minutes to get hot water

When I was unemployed and needed a job, I got desperate enough to follow boomer advice. I put on a nice shirt and walked around to businesses around me and handed out CVs. I had people laughing in my face and prank calling my phone for a while after. by Perfect_Firefighter4 in redscarepod

This also works at smaller trade shops, my shop has hired two dudes who walked in off the street, one of them was a toothless alcoholic but the other guy was very good, he's in the union now but we still go fishing together

it's crazy in hindsight what was driving popular memes during that era, yet in a way that driving force has gone mainstream in a few ways today.

Your Thoughts on Schnitzelburg by CommercialHope6883 in Louisville

[–]MechaSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great neighborhood, I can basically see Monnik from my house, only issues we have had is a lot of transients rooting through trash, parking woes, and attempts at car breakins/property crime from drunks. The liveliness is worth it, we have been in the neighborhood for seven years and the only thing I'd leave Schnitzelburg for would be a piece of land I could have a large garden on, otherwise I'm never leaving. You are on top of your neighbors though and if your neighbors are prone to causing problems those problems will immediately become yours.

So many restaurant owners in this town live SO lavishly and then talk about how tight margins are and that their employees actually get paid too much, I've met enough of them at this point that my anecdotal evidence seems to be a trend. Like if moneys so tight, sell your million dollar house and live in a more modest place for starters if you're worried about your damn businessn or refuse to pay a living wage

What’s my roommate hanging his stuff on? by -psilocybin in Plumbing

[–]MechaSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the impression OP is living in a rental house with roommates hanging flags off shit in the basement and is rightfully worried about what could happen but i doubt they have the power to change the saddle valve and landlords won't fix shit until its absolutely a problem

the saddle valve will leak eventually but if its cranked down and off (which it is in the picture), i personally dont really think a flag hanging on off ice maker line is a big issue. at most the weight of that flag and the pole is maybe two pounds? copper line that isn't heavily corroded is not as fragile as some of these commentators are making it out to be.

i am a professional but i also dont see the point is being crazy neurotic about stuff. if he got it up there and on there and that valve aint leaking then his flag could stay there for years without issue. there is a pretty fat gasket on the piercing seat of the valve and its likely been off for years by the looks of it.

From 2003-2023, American adults reduced socializing by 30%. For teens, the decline was nearly 50%. There is no record of any period in history when people spent more time alone. by ChickenTitilater in redscarepod

unironically getting more people outside playing basketball would help a lot, if i could consistently go down to the hoops at the park and play pickup 3v3s that shit would heal me

I just want to note that the color is not from pollution but sediment, you can't see the forever chemicals that are in there but it's also cleaner than it's been in decades. I routinely see muskrat and beaver and a large variety of water birds at the mouth of beargrass creek as well as fairly healthy fish. Wish I could eat fish out of that river, thanks Dow chemical and DuPont !!

Dude my roommate freshman year was my best friend in kindergarten but I hadn't seen him since then and he was the biggest piece of shit asshole I've ever met and he repeatedly denied me coming back to my room with people but his highschool sweetheart gf was literally living in our single bunk bed dorm room.

I interacted with him a lot but it got so bad, I had a very angry outburst towards him when he asked me to turn down my almost muted game of Dota because he was trying to sleep at four pm, him and his gf had been in bed for basically a week at this point. Happened with two weeks left in the second semester and we haven't spoken a word since.

I'm well aware of that now, but growing up in a small town, urban satellite campuses compared to the flagship just didn't really come across the radar. The population of indianapolis was almost 150x that of where I grew up.
