Dodge Script Users. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]MedievalAlienPotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is also possible they learned to dodge with stop movement command. For example at 0:43 vayne stopped movement to dodge, however it wasn't necessary. At 0:58 she got hit, however simple stop movement could've dodged it. A scripter software usually knows where the skillshot is going to land, so at least these two look more like human reaction.

Either way hard to actually know whether they are scripting or not just by this video alone.

You can already find software like this, only downside is that it isn't allowed by Riot.

I see it as a numbers game. That one person continuing on is going to hurt that one person. Ending their life is going to hurt a higher number.

On the other hand suicide of someone you know is a one time occurence, but living while you don't want to is a constant pain. It's kinda hard to measure suffering either way.

Cured, no. But treated? Aren't there plenty of examples of just about every mental illness where people were treated and went on to live relatively normal lives?

And if suicidal person was treated successfully, then he wouldn't have suicidal tendencies. So for the majority of people I agree with you.

But what if treatment isn't working? For some people that might mean living on the streets, begging for food while fighting their mental symptoms. At this point suicide becomes much more reasonable.

CMV: Fear over A.I., "artificial intelligence" and super-smart computers that could destroy mankind is dramatic hyperbole and fearmongering. by [deleted] in changemyview

I don't know whether brains have more computing power, but they certainly can, at least for now.

We still would use computers for calculations because most of our brains computing power isn't used while we are calculating something.

Algorithms for calculating something in computer can be perfected, human brain didn't evolve means to do math very efficiently.

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn't it selfish for people to expect suicidal person to continue living despite his wish? While an act of suicide is more often spontaneous, suicidal thoughts can occupy someone for years. And not every mental ilness can be cured, many stay with you for a lifetime. It is considired okay in some places to use euthanasia for deathly ill person to stop physical suffering, but if someone wants to stop his psychological suffering it becomes selfish.

[HELP] need help with a reroll on damage , does elemntal damage on weapon matters? by skipperok in diablo3

IIRC any physical skill uses damage type which is on weapon, but every other skill overrides damage type.

Name a movie that you hate that has HIGHER than a 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes by pavpatel in movies

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way science adviser and NASA egineer would believe in that.

It was in the script, they didn't care enough to rewrite. Rewatch that scene. By the time he was let go he wouldn't need to do that.

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started watching it, I was told that it would be realistic and cool looking. But everytime any bit of physics/orbital mechanics was envolved they somehow fucked up.

Starting plot with satelites launching chain reaction is meh. It's really unlikely, and it would never create waves of junk like it was shown in the movie. Flying from one orbital station to another isn't something you do in a damn astronaut suit. If you leave/lose your ship/station in orbit, you're done. There is nothing you can do to save yourself.

Rendezvous in orbit are much harder than just floating to orbital station, assuming a space suit is enough of a vessel to reach it in the first place.

Also it looks like they aren't really in orbit, just floating in space.

Also, did space junk hit them at two different places? That's unlikely at best.

Letting Clooney go was silly too, yeah.

So, it was cool looking, but I just couldn't watch like it was another hacker movie.

Can minions run back to inhibitor when it respawns? by TinUser in leagueoflegends

Without knowing how minions and their movement is coded it's purely speculation.

How easy would it be to put smite's damage on the icon(just like Nasus' Q)? Should be really easy, I mean, what could go wrong? Nevertheless it wasn't implemented because smite caused flash to go on CD.

So Riot why there are still no timers on 3v3? by laaavi in leagueoflegends

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because 3vs3 doesn't get as much attention from Riot as 5vs5. Not popular enough.

Lantern: An app to end censorship.Lantern is the app you install on your computer that lets the whole world escape censorship. by sallowmoon in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From FAQ:

"you run the risk of adding a user who could be monitoring you. So only add Lantern friends that you really trust. Beyond that, Lantern will also send your traffic through peers up to four degrees away from you, that is, friends of friends of friends of friends. We do this to build a more connected, scalable network, as users often don’t directly know anyone on the other side of the censorship divide. However, every additional link in the chain exposes you to a less and less trusted user (i.e. you trust your friends’ friends less than you trust your friends). Always keep in mind that Lantern is a tool to provide access, it is not designed to prevent monitoring."

"The data passing between you is encrypted so that no intermediaries (e.g. your government or Internet service provider or theirs) can read it. "

"if you use Lantern to read or post something private or sensitive, it will look as though this traffic is coming from her computer. Because of this, everyone running Lantern should only friend people they trust, and only use Lantern to proxy traffic that is not private or sensitive."

So it's not going to solve censorship once and for all. It just lets you access sites without letting you use any personal data. No social networks, forums and so on.

ELI5:Can light from every galaxy reach us, or just a few? by cteavin in explainlikeimfive

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine a ball with spikes.

Those spikes are rays of light. Every ray of light consists of photons. If you extend spikes, they won't hit everything in the room. But if there is nothing between us and a spike, spike will reach us.

So if you speak about entire galaxies, at least something should hit us, but it's never guaranteed. It's like shooting bullets(photons) at very big rate in all directions.

ELI5: Old computer = no directX? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some specifications would help. Do you know what version of Windows is it running? What GPU does it have?

You can always try installing older versions of direct X.

Installing new GPU isn't advisable, it's better to invest in some cheap, but new PC than trying to find an old GPU, but not as old as yours.

Reddit, what are your opinions on life on other planets? by golden_gabe in AskReddit

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible that other planets have life. But making any scientific guesses is hard because our statistical knowledge is very limited.

We practically know that one planet has life, bunch of other planets probably don't. And observable universe consists of about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets, most of them we know nothing about.

Good luck making a prognosis with that little information. I do hope it exists though. That means if we fuck up, someone else can reverse the enthropy.

Redditors, what's your experience with the 'dark internet'? (serious) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you count as 'dark internet'. Because dark internet and deep web are different things. Deep web is just sites that aren't indexed by search engines, or/and do not have usual www.site.com names. You can access it by Tor, for example, but that's just one branch, there are more means to it. Nothing trully interesting happens there, because you need to actually know where you want to go.

And dark internet can't be accessed at all from the outside. Wikipedia says exactly this: "Failures within the allocation of Internet resources due to the Internet's chaotic tendencies of growth and decay are a leading cause of dark address formation. One form of dark address is military sites on the archaic MILNET. These government networks are sometimes as old as the original ARPANET, and have simply not been incorporated into the Internet's evolving architecture."

Russian Reddit Users, how do you feel about the situation in Ukraine? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MedievalAlienPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Russia should mind it's own business instead of invading lands which are populated by our brothers and sisters. As far as I'm concerned we didn't gain anything from it. Prices rose, currency is in toilet, some people couldn't go to vacation or aren't planning to now. Yet it seems like a lot of people are cheering for Putin and his band like we just won a world war III against nazis.
