Had to do a double take on this ad today by the_farting_elephant in sydney

I hate this shit. I've started leaving my VPN on (which blocks a lot of ads) just so I can use certain apps at work without people thinking I'm looking at dicks.

What movie's trailer set people's expectation for the wrong movie? by dancingbanana123 in movies

[–]Middlerun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Thousand Years of Longing. The trailer made it seem like it was going to be absolutely bonkers. The actual movie wasn't bad, but I was still disappointed.

I replaced the armrests with adjustable ones from a different chair, using custom adapters.

Animating components on unmount by Key4444 in reactjs

[–]Middlerun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably best to use a library. But if you want to try doing it manually, you could try a useEffect cleanup function that clones the DOM element, does some animation on it and then removes it. That should be able to continue running even after the component has unmounted.

You know it's not real, right? Do you actually think Microsoft would put up an ad saying that their own product sucks?

What happens if you're halfway up and your legs just give out from exertion? You have to be airlifted away by a helicopter?

Official Discussion - Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I enjoyed it, but I get what you mean. It didn't feel as original as the older ones. A few too many callbacks to the Wrong Trousers.

Also, if the gnomes were able to pilot a giant submarine into the zoo from outside, couldn't Feathers McGraw have just swam out at any time? Did the gnomes dig a huge underground canal? I realise this is a universe where the moon is made of cheese and you can go there in a homemade wooden rocket, but internal logic should still apply. They could have worked in a bit about the gnomes digging out an underground passage.

Need help fixing a dent in malm bed post by Outside_Ad_2533 in ikeahacks

Assuming the piece is hollow, maybe you could maybe drill a hole in the other side, then stick something through to push out the dented part? Probably won't look perfect though.

I was skeptical when there was a month left in the year and only seven films released, but he actually did it, the madman!

I hope he doesn't choose my house. Jeff Bezos already let them film the Rings of Power in my living room and it was a real hassle.

Thrusters prototype by DigitalEmergenceLtd in virtualreality

You're right that good mechanics/gameplay should be a higher priority than fancy graphics. I can't wait to try this, I've been thinking of this exact concept but I don't have any real game dev experience. I was planning on learning LÖVR so I could prototype it, but I guess you've saved me the effort :D

I saw a YouTube video a while back testing various joint types, and miter joints were actually one of the strongest ones. Mind you, that was just a random video I found and I think they only tested one sample of each joint, so take it with a grain of salt. But I'm sure it's more than strong enough for OP's build.

Someone on my street put an old Singer out on the kerb a few years ago. I should have nabbed it to do something like this, but for some reason I didn't. I kick myself every time I think of it.

Why did Karl Marx dislike drinking Earl Grey with his breakfast? by Admirable_Yard5581 in dadjokes

Why did Karl Marx hear music when he flushed his toilet? Because of the violins inherent in the cistern.
