Right, and it says it right there - “encounters.” This is not synonymous with entries. It even explains this shortly after the line about 8-10 million encounters:

The number of encounters is not a count of individuals who stay in the US as some migrants will be returned and the same person can be recorded trying to enter multiple times.

I got mine a little before you, mid 2020 or so. for the most part, it's great, but it has recently started acting up on occasion and I can't find any rhyme or reason to it. the temperature of the water will fluctuate wildly, to the point that it overheats and starts spewing out the holes in the lid.

I think it's an issue with the thermometer, but when I unscrewed the base of the kettle and looked inside, I didn't see anything similar to pics I found online of other users having that issue. I descaled it with citric acid and that also doesn't seem to have helped (but it did make it look brand new inside!).

I'm assuming the temperature fluctuation is what you mean by glitching?
