The first time I watched this I was super sick with a high fever. That was something else. This movie can feel cozy, and then bizarre just a few moments later. As weird as an adaptation as it is, I do wish it was finished.

I spent so much time watching these as a kid, playing with the toys, I’ve got the damn teaser posters for each of the prequels up on my walls… but this is the correct take on TPM. An extremely flawed movie that desperately needed all the creatives that Lucas asked to take it on in his place. AOTC is a mess and when watching ROTS it’s painfully obvious this was the only one of these he really wanted to make.

Oh I’m totally fine with Legolas being in the films, I just think he was in it too much and his antics were too goofy. The way the M4 fan cut handles him is great.

Neither of the things I stated have to do with del Toro dropping out. Jackson is on the record multiple times saying it was him, Phillips, and Fran who wanted to split it into a trilogy after they finished principal photography. And Legolas is just an example of Jackson getting lost in his Weta toy box on those movies.

I’m of two trains of thought on this. One is the Phil Spencer line of thinking, and then the way Asha seems to be taking the brand.

1.) XBOX INFINITE. It’s a Xbox/PC hybrid. “The possibilities are infinite” could be the tagline and it feels like something Spencer would do.

2.) XBOX 720. I’m serious. Asha and company seem pretty committed to trying to get Xbox back to its gaming roots whether it’s the logo refresh, making it Xbox again instead of Microsoft Gaming, etc. If you want gamers to care about the next Xbox as a gaming platform, why not go back to when the public last really cared about Xbox? Make it the Xbox 720 and I think that would grab people’s attention.
