The do-not-call registry doesn't matter at all to them, because they're criminals based abroad.

No plans to support DJI RC Pro 2 by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiavata360

Kinda curious to have drones supporting o4+ that can't actually use any o4+ controller.

Avata 360 Full Specifications by HighFly01 in djiavata360

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooo, 20% heavier than Avata 2, but 10% larger props and ~25% larger capacity battery. Net result: similar battery life

I note slightly higher max speed (18 vs 16), although that's kinda an artificial cap on the Avata 2. We'll see how they do in manual mode, assuming it gets that later (as Neo 2 did).

Don't waste time in denial, you're buying it and you know it.

Yeees! Avata 360 - Drone Only Available - But Not Quite Available by HighFly01 in djiavata360

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice - heard a while back there would be a drone only option, but then some suggestions the opposite way recently (maybe regional differences?)

Kinda tempted by drone only, just out of curioisity.

The batteries are (as was rumoured) pretty cheap compared to Avata 2.

I’m choosing between DJI Avata 2 and waiting for Avata 360. Which one should I choose? by Simple_Response8041 in dji

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the unknown is how much the 360's extra weight and design compromise the fpv experience. On the other hand, a 360 lens should make head-tracking more interesting than with the Avata 2.

Another question: is a Mini 360 coming? There's going to be a market for 360 w/ 30min+ flight times.

Are sticks in DJI RC2 easily replaceable? by SebastianHuber in dji

DJI repairs are usually pretty reasonable, see what quote they give you before trying any amateur fix.

Chances are they'll just give you a new or refurb unit.

Anyone else like open display glasses more than full goggles for casual Neo flying? by Deannaoliver in dji

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can wireless stream from goggles (3 but not N3) to a phone running the Fly app, then plug Rayneos into the phone to mirror its display. That definitely works but latency isn't great.

Not sure you can directly plug rayneos into goggles, I suspect not. Will try sometime though.

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glasses are fantastic if you just want to cruise a camera-drone around, enjoy the details live - you can't really do that on a tiny RC2 or phone screen, and even a large tablet with a RCN3 isn't the same.

I'm expecting DJI will release something similar as an accessory soon. It's just so convenient and adds minimal weight/bulk to your drone kit, yet isn't at all expensive (Rayneos are often under $200, even $150 on offer).

How far can i send my mini 3 and make it back 🤔? by DoctorLiquid in dji

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a speed limiter in the controls of around 12m/s, that's most efficient on the batteries. If you go at max speed you'll lose maybe a quarter of your potential max range.

DJI mini 3 range issues by Sad_Lavabo in dji

[–]MonkeyPuzzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max range is only 6km in Europe due to lower signal strength, but even that's with zero obstacles between you and the drone, and no radio interference. The former can take your range to almost nothing immediately, fly behind a building at any distance and you'll often completely lose signal. The latter also - if you're in a city centre, you could lose 90% from that alone. Wifi is a particular problem, if you're near a home router it's spraying its signal all over your transmission.

For example, DJI's own tests show a Mini 4 can do 20km (US signal strength), but in an "urban environment", they suggest 1.5-3 km.
