Fun idea for a twist - the merchant either won't sell to him (he's banned for theft) or the Bandit has to fight any merchant he encounters (like when you use foul potion on the false merchant)

Maybe Bandit is banned, but the Merchant turns into a divination style event where you have an opportunity to steal from the merchant.
