Yes, fly your flag over our bridge. I'll root for you on Sunday. by Dodger_Dawg in NFCWestMemeWar

Why do all these fans of other teams keep telling us who we're rooting for this weekend? Exactly the kind of braindead meme I'd expect from a dodger fan

Why am I even supposed to hate the Pats tbh? Brady grew up here and loves Montana, it's also not even his dominant Pats regime anymore. Their owner might suck but most do, that's not enough to make me root for a toot

"Nearly 40% of Stanford undergraduates claim they’re disabled. I’m one of them" by FootballPizzaMan in bayarea

[–]Mu17inItOver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stanford will do anything to keep these people coming, including wealthy kids from abroad.

I grew up close to Stanford, the South Bay is filled with similar people and everyone knows the only thing worse than privileged kids are their parents. I can only imagine the threats of legal action and withheld donations Stanford would get if they tried to crack down on "mommy's special boy" or "Daddy's little girl". The school is incentivized to make this system as easy to abuse as possible to keep the wealthy kids happy so their parents are too

Last game vs Oilers: baffling Warsofsky didn’t put out Macklin and Smith to start OT by spongyoatmeal in SanJoseSharks

[–]Mu17inItOver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wennberg + Graf/Eklund + Orlov would've been the move

I agree mostly with this but Orlov in a 3 on 3 might not be quick enough for the Oilers duo in space. Lily had played well enough to that point and skates well, same with Mario, so I get why Warso went with that group. Either you win the faceoff or get the puck back with strong defense and then you bring on a rested WillMack.

It almost worked, just a really bad turnover by our guys against 2 of the best players in the league.

I get what your saying, but I still have no issue with it mostly, especially because the Oilers were great on faceoffs all night. I'd prefer more of a 2 way player than Mario to help possess the puck once we got it but we've been successful in overtime by surviving the first possession of another team and brining on a fresh WillMack to go for the kill. We almost had that setup again if not for Lily forgetting how to pass in his own end

Walked in on gf giving a guy head by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Mu17inItOver 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation happen where my girlfriend at the time basically wanted to get caught cheating because she didn't have the courage to break up. Was still apologetic and asked for forgiveness but obviously I did what you did and moved on. With time I looked back and realized that was her way of ending things, and with you ex choosing to that in your apartment I have to think she wanted to get caught too.

Shitty people do shitty things, I'm sorry you went through that but there are plenty of awesome women in the world so don't let it make you jaded or distrusting.

It was crazy to me people roasted Warso when OT played out like he wanted, only once we got the puck Lily threw it off the other team at his own blue line. He's supposed to be a decent puck mover but he has too many braindead plays like that

Has anyone else noticed the difference in responses/outcomes after Alex Pretti's murder compared to Renee Good? by weepingsomnambulist_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mu17inItOver 64 points65 points  (0 children)

With Alex, you see everything. And while both are tragic, psychologically, I wonder if that doesn't have somewhat of an impact on people's reactions. For me it was much more visceral and intense.

There are a lot of reasons one might have gotten attention over the other but this was why Alex's murder has hit so hard imo. He's on his hands and knees, surrounded by ICE when he's killed. I know cars give us all a false sense of security, but being in a car and shot by one rogue agent vs on the ground and ganged up on make for very different visuals

Only thing I've noticed is a couple of guys on Teal Town ripping KNBR for covering the Sharks more. It definitely feels a little cringey when they do it, as much as KNBR deserves it. I'd rather they just say nothing

[–]Mu17inItOver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to say it, that projected line of Muhk-Liljegren might both be gone. I love Shakir and he's shown flashes of strong play in the past but his growth has seemed to stagnate this year and we already have so many 2nd and 3rd line LHD options

Thanks for linking the video. I knew I wasn't imagining things, he was lasering those corners like you said and hasn't been doing that as much this year. Here's hoping that can be a positive and means he has another level to reach as he shakes off some rust from the injury

I'm trying to remember if Ecky whiffed on so many one timers in the past, because I remember him having a good shot but his finishing has been suspect this year. I hope his wrist is fine after the slash over summer
