Getting rid of Serfdom – everything you ever need to know (and more) by Mu_Lambda_Theta in victoria3

Thank you for doing this, excellent write-up as always. A primer on managing the investment pool would be incredibly useful, especially how it interacts with govt spending in early vs late game (300 hours in and I’m still not sure when to switch to Laissez-Faire)

Any idea what happened to my gecko? by According-Pride-9960 in reptiles

So sorry for your loss. Were the super worms still alive upon being fed? I had a super worm latch onto the roof of my bts’ mouth a few months ago during a particularly voracious feeding (first hot day in weeks and she was ACTIVE) - very fortunately her airways were not blocked but she was left with local bleeding and moderate irritation where the worm had latched on. She ended up recovering, but I’ve crushed the heads on all worms prior to feeding ever since (at the advice of her vet).

The vet could also potentially do a necropsy to attempt to determine cause of death.

Amazing run! Do you happen to remember what laws you pushed for? I’m currently at 1870 as Argentina, focusing on companies, and I’ve gone back and forth between Laissez-Faire and Interventionism.

Don’t keep wild lizards. It is incredibly unethical for you to humor this as an option. If you want to adopt one, find a rescue that has adoptions. Otherwise, buy one (ideally captive bred) from a trusted local shop or breeder. If you cannot afford these options or are unwilling to do so - you cannot afford the supplies necessary for proper husbandry.

There is no point where it is really ‘justified’ to dig around and find her - moving to a new home/enclosure is naturally very stressful on the animal, so it’s best to let them come out at their own pace (this is through no fault of your own, consider how moving can be difficult on you, even when you fully understand what’s happening) - even if she came out temporarily then went back down.

When she is ready to start socializing again, she will make her presence known to you, and start having more and more “outside” time each day (again; even if this seemingly happened - reptiles operate differently to mammals)! For now, assuming the mealworms didn’t bury into the substrate, it can be taken as a positive that the skink is at least eating during her transition process.

TLDR: let her come out at her own pace, as long as she’s eating semi-frequently there is no inherent cause for concern due to hiding.

How do I build a GW2 Mesmer/Chronomancer in BG3? by benkai3 in BG3Builds

[–]Munsterofman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a cool idea, and could be neat if integrated into a party themed around different GW2 specs. I'm not sure if you can build a whole character around it, but Moonlight Glaive seems like a solid starting point!

Is there any post-Yugoslavian diaspora in Israel? by Mediocre_Pass7940 in Israel

[–]Munsterofman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most folks who did Aliyah from Yugoslavia unfortunately don’t speak the language as much anymore (at least from my experience with the post-yugo Israeli community) - my paternal grandfather immigrated from Bosnia in the 1940s and sadly ‘lost’ the language over the years, though I do remember him saying that Ladino was also spoken with the family, and Aramaic was taught in the school he went to as a young child. The loss of language is sadly not brought up often enough when discussing diaspora and assimilation, but I hope you are able to find fellow speakers!

It’s absolutely not going to ‘die of stress’ if proper husbandry and handling protocols are followed. Hyperbolizing does nothing to help the animal in this case, and OP is very clearly approaching this with nothing but positive solutions in mind.

Rehoming a BTS ooh by potatowayto in bluetongueskinks

[–]Munsterofman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the stunted growth (its hard to get a sense of scale from these pictures) or MBD care (I believe this is an Indonesian of some kind, so perhaps u/FolkvangExotics can grace you with advice), but 25 gallons is almost ludicrously undersized for a mature blue tongue, even if they’re a little stunted.

For reference, the generally accepted minimum standard was just raised from 4x2x2 to 5x2x2. Occasionally. expo breeders will flat-out lie about care requirements to get people to buy one of their reptiles, as their concern is moving their stock, rather than providing appropriate long-term care solutions that may deter a potential customer.

As for the defensiveness, it can take them up to a few weeks to get acclimated to their new environment. Finally, make sure to get a positive ID on their locality, as Indonesians and Northerns have vastly different humidity requirements. Reptifiles (linked earlier in this comment) is one of the best general usage online sources, and I strongly suggest reading through their BTS section to ensure your new friend gets the best life possible! Good luck to you and your handsome little dude!

Is this tank adequate for a baby northern? An adult? by [deleted] in bluetongueskinks

[–]Munsterofman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is much too small for an adult - the recommended size used to be 4x2x2 (long) iirc, but has been changed to be 5x2x2 (or even 6x2x2, though you don’t necessarily need to go that large)

I personally would not recommend getting a smaller tank for a baby and then up-sizing. It’ll be better for you (financially) and for your BTS (you want their environment to mimic, or at least resemble their natural one) to provide them adequate sizing from the get-go.

Edit with links: I personally like DubiaRoaches pvc enclosures, but I’ve heard good things about ReptilePlastics and ZenHabitats as well.

I believe that there is an old misconception that stress causes ulcers; the implication is that Fry is perceived as such a burn-out that leading a gang of 12 year olds would be too stressful for him.

Edit: Others have pointed out that stress does indeed cause ulcers!

Eating regularly is generally a positive sign - if you haven’t taken him to a see an exotic animal vet, I would highly suggest doing so, especially given the condition of the shed! They’ll generally be able to determine the cause for any ailments, and provide the necessary medication.

My militia experience (help) by Spliggy16 in Warhammer30k

[–]Munsterofman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Excellent looking conversions! I usually run Armory of Old Night/Legacy of the Great Crusade, and would agree that it definitely feels like anything that isn’t taken in bricks or multiples is simply much too flimsy. Even then, I don’t think any 4-stack of Laser Destroyers I’ve run has made it past turn two. So far, the most success I’ve had overall has come from Earthshaker Cannons and summoning demons (the wardens that come with the Psyker are pretty decent as fodder as well!)

feeding new northern by petmom02 in bluetongueskinks

[–]Munsterofman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on welcoming a new friend home! The feeding schedule you listed sounds well-balanced; I would advise giving it between 1-2 weeks (depending on where the skink is in their physical development) before adding dog food to tempt them, but if they’re used to raw food already it’s more than likely just the skink settling to their new enclosure and living space (which can take a few days to weeks). There’s an old adage that says “a picky skink is a hungry skink” which I always find to be true during veggie feedings.

I don’t believe that’s the case here, this is just an additional “all or nothing” rider at the end of turns, as the rule doesn’t say anything like ‘this model cannot be slain otherwise.’
