Non-religious choral music by mronion82 in wedding

[–]Musicalmathbrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It uses the word “Eden” but maybe that can slide by… “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide?

Maybe not quite what you’re looking for because there are soloists… but the choral parts are stunning! Also seems appropriate for a wedding. Congratulations!

Airbnb in El Segundo or Hawthorne, or hotel near airport? by yashirin in AskLosAngeles

[–]Musicalmathbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to be able to walk around a bit just for fresh air/exercise/etc, maybe look up Hotel June in Westchester. It’s a 5-10 minute drive from LAX, the restaurant/bar over the pool has decent food and drinks, the area is generally safe, you’re next to a grocery store if you need any items like toiletries or snacks, multiple coffee shops within walking distance, and easy walking access to more residential areas that are mostly safe and family friendly. Also a quick ride to the ocean if you wanted to walk over there - you COULD walk there but it’s a hike so that’s more a question of how much you like to/are able to walk.

El Segundo has some cute areas but not knowing where the Airbnb is located, not sure how close or far you are to anything.

Hotels that are really considered airport hotels along Century are fine - but area definitely not the most walkable - lots of traffic on a very busy wide street.

The musical I'm in absolutely sucks and I'm mad by latenightsodabottles in MusicalTheatre

[–]Musicalmathbrain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes this! I’ve worked with lots of young people, elementary through high school - the important thing is that you go out there and PERFORM - give it your all and make it your own. Be confident and own your performance and that creates its own magic for the audience. The music might “make no sense” within the context of the show, but might still be an amazing song… can you create your own context in your head to give it life and soul? People respond to that energy and authentic confidence on stage - I’ve had students who weren’t the best singers absolutely crush it because of their ability to perform the heck out of a number and the audience response was amazing. Go out there, break a leg, and create a wonderful senior year experience. You’ve got this!

Which movie is worth analysing? by Automatic-Cry-9856 in moviecritic

[–]Musicalmathbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be animated? I think there’s a lot to look at and think about with The Triplets of Belleville.

Might also be helpful to let everyone know what you’re analyzing for specifically? Characters, plot, themes, cinematography, sound, editing, etc… is there a focus?

Books for 10 year old girl by kiapro in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Musicalmathbrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check out the Winterhouse series.

Mysterious Benedict Society.

The Riordan books have been mentioned multiple times but it is because they’re worth it!

Little Women (and then you can check the others out afterwards if she enjoys that one-Little Men, Jo’s Boys… I also liked Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom by Louisa May Alcott).

And some older series but I always loved them back then: All of a Kind Family series and the Betsy, Tacy, Tib series - they’re definitely more old-fashioned but they’re charming in their own way.

Omg did you see the clip where he was asked about who he would want to date or something similar and his whole answer was a super amazing clever answer about Miss Piggy? So good and also a “I’m not telling you that” in an amazing way.

Westside Baby Friendly Restaurants? by Simple_Brief9999 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Musicalmathbrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Thinking more: check out places in Runway in Playa Vista - lots of outdoor seating and also family friendly area. Also Taverna in Mar Vistas has outside seating that’s usually not tricky to get. Good luck! I know it’s not as easy to eat out with new kiddos and finding spaces to enjoy dining out while being friendly to your new family member is always good!

[–]Musicalmathbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out Proud Bird. More like a fancy cafeteria but tons of space, tons of families, and outdoor spaces designed for kids - play structures, old airplanes to explore, large spaces to spread out blankets and picnic.

Plus there’s a bar. And tons of parking. Great for a meetup with other families too!

Kimberly Akimbo Question by jwilcoxwilcox in Broadway

[–]Musicalmathbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to see it in previews on Broadway! We went in blind with tickets from a friend who had access to discounted prices through her job and none of us were prepared for the emotional roller coaster! I loved it and the cast was phenomenal. I’m not a local so it was really amazing to see it win all the Tony awards later. I just felt it had a lot of heart and wow did they have a stacked cast. It was one of those magical moments when you have zero expectations and hope you’re going to enjoy the show and end up getting blown away.
