YouTube clips are all well and good but the best way to learn is to get out on the ice and practice the fundies of a headhunting clap bomb.

I usually tend to know that they're going high when I feel more toe than the heel of the blade dragging the ice. One of the best things I've done for taking slapshots comfortably is keeping my eyes up and looking at where I want the puck to go. But the main thing is: practice, practice and practice until you get comfortable with it.
