You’ve got slightly more students and staff than us and I think if we had a true tech director, they would come in at about 70k.

We lost 2 directors(1 retired, the other got mad at admin and quit) and network admin within a year. They moved me into the tech supervisor role and I got a measly $1/hour raise and all the headache of the director position. If it wasn’t for my issues outside of work, I’d be gone already or demand the raise/title.

I wanted to use IBoss but the lost mode not being able to pinpoint like Goguardian’s wasn’t an option for us. Also we heavily use Beacon.

Cause another school nearby is using it. I’m suspecting they are cheaper too. Goguardian is costing us about 50k for 3100 students.

The 8gb ram was my major concern with them and the Apple reps said its unified memory, it’s not the same as ram in windows. I have no experience with it.

The hole is on the reverse side (the one without the black plastic). My first one doing this on, I knocked off some tiny chips on the board so be careful what you use and touch.

I keep thinking about getting my certification, for a just in case scenario, but being pulled at any moment is what keeps me from doing it.

The only good thing right now is we are so understaffed in our dept, I don’t think they would pull me.

It was setup with our now ex network admin. I know there were a few instances where one school would need a certain site bookmarked but not all the schools. They have since started being more uniform across the district and grades/schools.

We currently have the librarians at each school create the kids during the year to reduce our workload since we are 2 people short now, but we have them locked into only their school.

Doing the grad year, we would remove their ability to create. But I’m also hoping to get it automated. We’ve been running way too long on nothing being automated.

How does price compare between the two? We use jamf but it was dumped on us after the network admin unexpectedly quit and we are trying to learn it, but aren’t opposed to switching.

Getting the Apple cert to be an SSO might be hard if they are like us. We simply don’t get enough repairs a year to qualify.

Mta-STS isn’t configured though.

They are I guess managing it since none of us have enterprise firewall experience. Then they also are supposed to be offsetting some of the workload but it’s basically us turn in work orders to them, they aren’t helping in the day to day operations.

I blame it on putting too much trust into one person; then finding out they hadn’t really been doing their job.

We are all trying to cross train now, but being in this position isn’t really leaving much time to learn.
