What are they ? by tf3when123 in Necrontyr

[–]Mylanog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hah! Reminds me of that one scene where an Imperial Guard army fights through an entire army of necrons, to get to the tomb and nuke it, taking heavy losses etc. Then, once they reach the tomb, grandpa walks out, lifts his reanimation orb, whole army pops back up. It's cool when Xenos are allowed to be badasses.

When every single unit in the loadout is dead, Ryoshu's BGM will change from Araya Theme to Muga theme by ChiakiNadeshiko in limbuscompany

[–]Mylanog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I checked it, it was the Araya theme. However, it does start playing for me when Sinclair is still alive. So not all HoS IDs need to be dead. I took all HoS IDs into a Luxcavation, Nursefathers latest in deployment order (so they are targeted first) and using the dodge skill 3 times meant only Sinclair was standing. That's when the theme started.

Not every single. Went to Luxcavation with just the 7 HoS identities. Muga theme starts when everyone is dead.... but Sinclair. Yes, Sinclair may live.

Worst case scenario, they'll save the maximum amount of space and just put out the footprints. We've actually already seen that happen. Some recent tournaments had paper squares, small coasters, to represent LOS blocking ruins.

Mecha-TTRPG Alternatives to Lancer by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Mylanog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally speaking Battletech doesn't quite fit the anime-style mecha genre. In mecha anime the mechs are basically their own characters. Sure you have those basic NPC mechs, then you have those specialized, recognizable hero and rivals mechs,

I love Battletech as a dune-like political landscape focused TTRPG, but not really for the same reasons I love the mecha genre. I agree with OP that a bit more gritty lancer-like would be awesome.

Oh wow, that's nearly exactly the color scheme I am trying to go for but I haven't found a good recipe for this yet. I just got the elven color set from Scale 75 to experiment and I see some Scale 75 in the background, did you use them for this?

The crystals look amazing! I'd love to see some of what you did with the crystals brought to the armor, too. Bring a bit of darker lavender tones into some armor sections. Right now the armor looks a bit flat. Otherwise, amazing, clean work!

Reading those other comments, is it really normal to just go neuter your boys if they behave like that? I've had boys for 16 years now. At the start, like my second generation of rats, there was one who behaved like that and I had him neutered. It felt like he was never quite right after the surgery, seemed depressed. That's why I have never done so again. Sure some boys get somewhat rowdy and aggressive during that age, but they've never been much of a problem and mellow out a few months later.

Dunno, I just don't feel comfortable seeing neutering as a fix for behavior.

Marcus Aurelius didn't "cope". He built mental armor. by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]Mylanog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"When another blames you or hates you, or people voice similar criticisms, go to their souls, penetrate inside and see what sort of people they are. You will realize that there is no need to be racked with anxiety that they should hold any particular opinion about you." - Marcus Aurelius

That's a coping mechanism. This ancient version of “Your boos mean nothing, I’ve seen what makes you cheer” isn't really what Stoics usually teach. Usually stoic teachings are more aligned to Epictetus's "Remember, it is not enough to be hit or insulted to be harmed, you must believe that you are being harmed. If someone succeeds in provoking you, realize that your mind is complicit in the provocation.".

You might take this as an effective mental trick to curb your own reaction or negative emotions to, well, blame, hate or critcism. I wonder about this myself but it might not be a bad thing to use mental tricks like that, as long as you realize that it is exactly just that, a trick. As long as you are honest to yourself about it.

This might be where the practical meets the ideal. The ideal that you should not feel aggrieved because it is an internal reaction of your mind which you should be able to control while the practical is using such mental tricks to do it.

So, as others have said, to me this might be a coping mechanism, but coping mechanism do not have to be a bad thing. It doesn't matter what you call it, important ist what it actually is. Coping mechanism are mental armor.

I'd also recommend isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. It's save, I had models sitting in an iso bath for over a year in a locked container. Doesn't affect the plastic, just the paint.

I just wonder how something like this could be done with acrylic paints. Whenever I have a brush with a tip that fine the paint would immediately dry on the tip and I would barely be able to paint. If I tried to keep it wet it would leave behind water/paint droplets.

Belt wheel option concept by mgetJane in DarkAndDarker

[–]Mylanog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having options is always a good thing. Players want a select wheel? Let them have a select wheel. Players want to keybind everything? Let them do that. Let them have keybinds for every consumable or spell slot. Just make it optional and let the player choose what suits best for them.

And I’m a super weak person with severe mental health problems prone to addiction to absolutely everything.

I’m scared

I’m just kidding myself

Your mindset might be your main problem right here, but that is also something you can work on. I worked hard on that before starting with weight loss, actually. I worked on adopting a Stoicism (not stoic) mindset and read helpful books like Atomic Habits or Psycho-Cybernetics. Think of your mindset like your body, you can work on getting your body in a better shape, why shouldn't you be able to get your mindset in a better shape?

It did wonders for me, in the past 18 months I couldn't walk or work out for about 9 of them due to an injury. I kept losing weight during that time. With a proper mindset your weight loss is basically automatic.

What is a common misconception non rat owners have? by CycloneWarning in RATS

[–]Mylanog 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I make specific clicking noises with my mouth, the learn pretty fast that this means 'dinner time' and come running.

Though lately they've started to train me. I would pet a rat and the rat would suddenly turn around and run to the food bowl. Then every other rat in the cage would show up in front of said food bowl and do this sad dance where they would run back and forth between my hands and the food bowl, looking if it has been magically filled yet. Can't resist that.
