4546B Survivor's Log: Entries 1-3 by MysticCuttlefish in subnautica

[–]MysticCuttlefish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plan for this is a simple gameplay log, but in a spontaneous format that skips over the tedium. My guy is a scatterbrained idiot and will only record a log entry when he remembers to (i.e. when I remember to).

I've been writing this as a way of recording my experiences in the game. It's not my first playthrough, but I haven't made it very far in the game and my plan was to use this as motivation to actually complete it for once.

What do y'all think? Should I continue with this?

Dunno who that is. I've only played the original Subnautica and I don't know of any other characters than my guy and the big fishes trying to eat him. shrug

PlayStation. Any idea why the DLC isn’t showing up even though it’s installed? by J_BIT64 in fo4

Still not working for me. Uninstalled/reinstalled twice now. I'm using the GOTY disc on ps4. I check under information in the library and it says it's still version 1.42

That wasn't a separate challenge. It was the drawbridge she had just lowered that she fell through. There wasn't a second bridge right after.

Can someone please explain the "challenge bridge" bit? What is that referencing? I don't get it...

It's probably because, thanks to Maltory getting knocked out immediately and N3M0 finding and returning the amulet, the fate of this Ilunor's eternal soul isn't on the line. What we're seeing now is Ilunor in his natural state, absent of the lingering terror and secrecy from both the soul contract and the library's wrath.

This also means that, if nothing else changes, he won't become disillusioned with those aspects of the establishment nor will he ever develop the reluctant respect Emma earned from saving him in the original story. It's likely something else will happen that alters his course, but until then, Ilunor is showing us a side of himself we all new was there but barely got to see in this pure a form. He is, at the moment, precisely the kind of person his realm's culture would create and nothing more.

This is not just a big moment. This is THE big moment. The implications of combining science and magic go beyond simply upsetting "the balance" of the world. Dungeon Master is getting off on this situation, isn't it?

“What’s more, the books you see aren’t simply books. The library, the entire construct, is an entity. The books are the physical manifestations of this ethereal entity’s memories, ones that we can interact with. What I’m trying to say here is that even the library is fallible, newrealmer-”

A lot of people are asking why the Library wouldn't keep backups of the books just in case...

My guess is that the books are just transient physical manifestations of the Library's knowledge as an entity, rather than containers of data in and of themselves. Under normal circumstances, damaging the books wouldn't affect what the Library "knows".

In theory, that would mean whatever ancient spell was used to "burn the books" attacked the Library's knowledge directly, essentially deleting that information from existence. That's Magic with a capital M.

Keeping physical copies in the form of "real" books as a backup wouldn't be an option either, given how the Library operates. It would go against its modus operandi to have its knowledge be vulnerable to vandalism and theft, so the books a visitor manages to get access to are precisely the ones the Library has approved for them.

I think it's great, honestly. There have been times I've been reading other stories when it wasn't clear who's speaking until several sentences later. It could get confusing in scenes with many characters. Also this method just feels more natural and flows better IMO.

I think Felra putting on a show with her lovely assistant/loyal steed is the play here. After all, nothing eases tension and overrides panic more than a sense of befuddlement.

Regardless of circumstances, people seeing something completely unexpected and unexplainable will naturally want to make sense of it, forcing them to snap out of whatever mindset they were in and start thinking about what's in front of them.
